Dutch Evangelicals calls for pray-in against the Devil
<snip>

A Netherlands-based Evangelical organisation has called on Christians in 21 countries to hold a 24-hour prayer vigil against Satanic forces to mark so-called Devil's Day.

Some fear the date 06/06/06, which falls on Tuesday, signifies 666, the Biblical number of the Devil, and will usher in calamities and even the end of the world.

The Dutch-based organisation Ambassadors Ministries called its 24-hour prayer vigil from 6:00 pm (1600 GMT) Monday, saying it hoped some 2,000 Dutch Christians, mainly Protestants, would take part.

1. Wouldn't it be 666 in the Jewish calendar?
Why would it be our calendar?

On the other hand, I've known evangelicals that crazy, and they still scare me.

2. Satan uses the Gregorian Calendar?
Go figure. What calendar did the devil use before the year 1582?

3. Isn't Satan really on God's side?
We are told that God is all-powerful, and created everything. Therefore, he created Satan, and could destroy him if he chose to. If we are to believe that Satan is still around after thousands of years, doesn't that mean that:

1) God -isn't- all powerful and can't defeat Satan

or

2) God -can- defeat Satan but doesn't know what he's doing (goes against the "all knowing" deity notion)

or

3) God -can- defeat Satan and -does- know what he's doing but won't (goes against the "goodness" argument)

or

4) God -can- defeat Satan and -does- know what he's doing and wants him to do it.

Not a very attractive set of choices...
