mine would have to be the doors. hands down. would've loved to see jim morrison live.

it would've been great to see the beatles, although they didn't tour much other than the screaming little girl concerts, did they? i would've liked to see some of their later stuff live. or just lennon or harrison solo.

more recently, i'm sorry i didn't see ac/dc when bon scott was their singer, iron maiden with bruce dickinson, or the eagles

1. Without a doubt: Queen
I didn't start going to concerts until the mid-80s and Queen's music at that time wasn't as good as their earlier works. Their first 7 albums all said how no synthesisers were used in the making of the albums but sometime around "The Game" that changed. So I really didn't want to see a concert mainly of sub-par Queen songs. Who would have thought that 5 years later Freddie Mercury would have died of AIDs

And NO I don't want to see that joke of Queen with Paul Rodgers as lead. I would have gone if Brian & Roger did lead vocals (about a third of all Queen songs were done by one of those 2 instead of Freddie. Bassist John Deacon has retired)

9. Joy Division
I had tickets for their first show at Hurrah. Then, well, you know. I saw New Order's first show, a makeup for the Joy Division tix. Hardly anyone showed up, and half of them thought A Certain Ratio was New Order, since New Order went on first.

16. Jefferson Airplane
I saw the Dragonfly version of Jefferson Starship, just before Marty came back, and it was pretty stunning but it definitely wasn't the same.

Also: Doors, Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, Soft Machine, Led Zeppelin, Henry Cow, Tangerine Dream, Can, Hatfield and the North...

I did see Zappa, half a dozen times including the 1988 big band tour-- but that means I never saw any version of the original Mothers, nor the Flo & Eddie band, nor the Grand Wazoo big band.

I did see Quicksilver Messenger Service, but the Dino Valenti version, after John Cippolina had left.

I did see Peter Green with a jam band called Arc, just before he became a religious recluse, but I never saw him with Fleetwood Mac.

I saw the Who play two songs and then have Moonie pass out.

I saw Faust in the '90s, with two of the original members. That was pretty awesome.
