Best Prince album without a doubt: Purple Rain
This would be the same answer also if I started best movie soundtrack.

The entire album rules and I still listen to it even 20 years after the movie came out!

3. Best Prince album, certainly,
But not the best soundtrack by a long shot. Perhaps not even top ten, but hey, that's my opinion:shrug:

But I do like to listen to Purple Rain now and again, it's a good album.

4. Have to disagree....
Much prefer Sign O' The Times ... Prince at his edgiest and wildest. Particularly the track 'Adore,' which is Prince in all his multi-tracked vocal glory.

5. Have you listened to every music soundtrack?
Not trying to be snarky, just wondering how you can be so certain about your opinion.
ps: I like Purple Rain a lot but Controversy and Sign O the Times have their definite charms

13. O-kay... you got me
O-kay... you got me. Because I rarely muck around in the personal profile's of DU'er's, the best indication of things like sex, age, place of residence, etc are from the posts themselves.

I had you pegged as a 26 year old from Wisconsin. Now, I don't think that you went to see Purple Rain when you were five and I know that Wisconsin didn't have the class at the time to allow PR to be shown in the theaters there (sorry to all you WI-ers-- I've always used WI as the state I rag on. It's purely generic, I assure you), I gotta admit I must be wrong about you...
(Being 26 in the good way-- ie., very lively and rambunctuous at times)

As a weird coincidence, I dusted off the album for the first time in years this past weekend and gave it a good listen to on Sat. (Man, I LOVE When Doves Cry!)

If it's any consolation, PR hit the theaters the summer after I graduated HS-- my pals I and I went to see it numerous times when we were upposed to be looking for jobs :)

Born and raised in Pennsylvania (but live in Delaware now)

And I guess I date myself there with playing the PR album for 20+ years - ugh!

16. Maybe.
I'd also rank Dirty Mind, 1999 and The Gold Experience up there.

But as far as best soundtrack, yes, even though the movie was HORRIBLE.
