Any Father Ted fans?
one of the best british comedies of all time, IMHO.

3 catholic priests stuck on a tiny barren island off the coast of Ireland. Would have been even greater, but the actor who played Father Ted, the main character, died suddenly of a heart attack at a very young age. Still, they did three seasons, and every episode is fucking hilarious.

I highly reccomend it to anyone who enjoys British humor (or humour :D)

1. I've heard so much about this show...
from people who's taste in humor I trust, so I can't wait to check it out... wonder if it's on PBS now or BBCA... not that I have time for more TV shows... :P

2. Father Ted
is probably what has been the idea behind the invention of that 'christian' video game that calls on good fundamentalists to murder Catholics.

You'd love it. Netflix has it.

4. Ted, do you believe in an afterlife?
Well, Dougal, priests tend to have a pretty strong belief in the afterlife.
I wish I had your faith, Ted.

Dougal, how did you get into the church? Was it collect 12 crisp packets and become a priest? :D

13. Yes ...I know that
NOT a british show...Irish NOT british..RTE TV refused the show because of the church and state...Channel 4 did take it on and they were worried about the whole Priest on an Island thing..The fact is it is an Irish product..100%...Peace RK:+

15. Nope.

"Contrary to frequent rumours, Mathews and Linehan did not originally pitch the series to the Irish network RTÉ, but rather offered it directly to Hat Trick Productions and Channel 4 in the UK. Nevertheless, it is a rich irony that what went on to be one of the most popular TV shows in Ireland, performed largely by an Irish cast, and containing so many accurate (albeit comically exaggerated) depictions of national Irish eccentricities, was paid for and shot by a British broadcaster. Somewhat controversially, RTÉ initially did not buy the rights to broadcast the show in Ireland, perhaps for fear of offending more conservative viewers. However, Channel 4 is available on cable and MMDS in very many Irish homes and the show became a hit in Ireland without any help from RTÉ, who eventually responded to the obvious demand and broadcast the show themselves."

but to me, British=British Isles. English is english, scottish is scottish, irish is irish, welsh is welsh, but British is all of them.

22. I understand
Believe me. And, when I am speaking to an Irish audience, I will keep that in mind. But to Americans at least, "British Comedy" is a genre. That's what I was referring to.
