Portland flat-track Roller Derby, Sat June 10. Got my tickets! Got yours?

My eye is going to be on the rematch between the Heartless Heathers and the Breakneck Betties (though I will confess that for the High Rollers v. Guns & Rollers match, my zoom lens will be firmly affixed on the behind of that great frilly-pantied blocker Booty Trap). The Heathers have the best trio of jammers in the league in Sol Train, Sump Pump, and the Vominatrix. I get all teary-eyed just thinking about the point-scoring power! VO-MI-NATRIX! VO-MI-NATRIX! Such a slippery and talented skater. An incredible jammer! You'll find me in the Cadavers' Ice-Box taking the orders of Nurse Ratchet and screaming my guts out for the Heartless Heathers.

Next bout is June 24th at Hale Arena. Dee Claw and The Victory Vixens vs. the unstoppable Snot Rocket and the Dorothy Dreadnoughts. Both teams are undefeated and it will surely be a battle!

I'm not sure if the Rose City Rollers' touring team has Kansas City on their schedule, but I do plan on traveling north to see Portland go up against Seattle's Rat City Rollers next month.

Those Seattle girls look pretty tough.



I hope all the DIY leagues that are growing from the ground up smother the opportunistically revivified commercial interests (read: LA T-Birds, and the like) with their fixed matches and WWF attitudes.

7. Well, sadly, since it is such short notice
I must decline. Though under normal circumstances I would peddle from Alaska to Nebraska for a day in your company, I think standing up G wouldn't go over well on the dating scorecard. Next time, though.

12. I like the CD very much, though I haven't associated artist names w/ cuts
as I listen to it mostly in my car, where the disc is a big hit.

I will study up on it, though, and provide a detailed report in the near future.

Anyway, it's the second track on the disc, and I ask because it's from a project I've tried to hype to people but have been met with a singular lack of interest despite their having never heard it.

17. Had to drive home to fetch some spare Roller Derby tickets for a
couple of baristas, so grabbed the CD from the car and am listening to it again while paying attention to the set list for a change.

Robokoneko - Brume. A good track. Part of the percussion sounds like sampled footsteps. And the keyboard parts remind me of this old Tuxedomoon EP called "Ninotchka," which I'll have to dig out of the vinyl stacks to see if it's really a valid comparison.

The track after that (Obadin?) is a bit weirder with all those little halting sampled guitar phrases.

The Puccini at the end always makes me laugh a bit because of a certain sexual memory. But never mind.

it's all noise from Sydney Australia mixed into a melody, no added sound.
