Help! Help! What movie did Judy Garland appear in with
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 04:58 PM by Radio_Lady
Robert de Niro in which she sings about New York? What's the name of the song? Know any of the lyrics?

Need to know now because husband has been scratching his head for the last two days with this one. I'm cooking dinner (if that's what you want to call it) and flat up against the clock.

Thanks if you can help.

In peace,

Radio_Lady

6. Yes. Yes. Sorry about that. He said Liza and I mistook it for Judy.
Thanks a bunch, folks. You are terrific.

Better than Wikipedia and faster, too.

Have a great summer week!

12. Alrighty then..........

New York, New York
(Ebb-Kander)

Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.

I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.

P.S. We love Canada. We're going to a Whistler resort (Club Intrawest) in British Columbia with the whole family the second week in July. Have you ever been there?

15. OT: I checked out your web site. Did you design those photos?
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 10:36 AM by Radio_Lady
I've seen them from time to time on the DU, I think.

Just one quibble, and it's about French.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say "La Machine DES Images" -- instead of "DU Images". Not sure which is correct. (Unless, of course, you are making a joke about DU -- Democratic Underground -- IMAGES, and it's not related to French at all. In which case, I get the point and the joke.)

16. Yes the French is incorrect.................

La Machine is my girlfriends nickname. She
used to be the drummer for a little known
but influential new wave band called
UJ3K5.

She had perfect timing on the drums so the
band called her the Machine later
La Machine because one member said that
she played drums like a man.

Hence La Machine rather than the correct
masculine Le Machine. The band members included
Ian Wallace, Rodney Graham and Jeff Wall.

All three are well known Canadian artists. Jeff
was my thesis adviser in art school.

As for the images, I made them in Flash and named
the site DU Images because that's the name of
the folder I keep them in. It's also named DU
to remind myself that the images are not intended
to be circulated anywhere but DU.

The URL is on a sub domain so I didn't think it
would get any traffic outside DU. Since you
mentioned it I think I'll change the name to
avoid the misconception that DU is somehow
responsible for the content.
