10. My grandmother used to tell me about the time when she was a little

girl and everyone in her town was waiting for the "foretold" end of the world that was coming with Haley's comet. She said that the entire town went up to the top of a hill in their town, everyone dressed white. She said they prayed and they ate communal picnics and they watched and they waited. She was very young, so soon after the festivities she fell asleep. She woke up the next morning on the hill, and her father carried her off to bed along side the rest of the fathers carrying sleepy little ones. She lived to be ninety three and tell her many great and great great grand children about it.
