it was close to sunset (behind me) But depending on the soil it can get yellow, brown or red and visibility in the middle of them can be zip. They are dangerous and scary on the interstate. Yesterday there were a bunch of wrecks between Tucson and Phoenix because of dust.

I would say that was about 5 or 6 miles wide. The whole county is under dust storm watch tonight. These are caused by fast down winds from local thunderstorms and the fact that we have had about 1/2 of an inch of rain since September. Normal would be 5 or 6 inches. The previous worst "winter" period in our 50 years of records was 1.8 inches.

Can you say severe drought? This is actually a good sign that the monsoon is arriving.

winter, not sinter

3. My family moved here to Tucson in 1967.
I have seen perhaps eight photos that capture the desert.

These are two of the best depictions of what the desert
can bring.

My hat's off to you, Kali.

6. Nice - did you get any rain?
Man, I plan to be out in every dang storm that I can this year. I hope it is decent for a change. We need it so bad.

7. Oops. that was two days ago.
About fifteen minutes of spit and sputter.

About nine inches of rain - the drops were nine inches apart.
- I slay me -

In the last nine months we have gotten 10% of our normal rain.

I know you know that,
I just mentioned it for those that are reading along at home.

I ache for a stoem worthy of standing out in it.

Bring it on, please.

I don't care to wait any longer.

Gully-wash me.

Put a toad-floater on my yard.

9. Next day.
That dust cloud barely skimmed by the house - it was on the other side of a mountain and several miles to the south. We even got a few rain drops - enough to wet the sidewalk and cause this:
