Favorite Q story?

Hard choice; none of them is bad... but for some reason "True Q" is my current favorite...

Seems frightning ahead of its time; Q talking of "400 years ago you were having wars over how to divide the resources of your puny planet."

Roddenberry + Fontana. Good stuff.

Q as the sheriff of Nottingham. Picard as Robin Hood. What's not to love? :shrug:

Essentially a time travel episode, Q exposes Picard by granting him a wish. Picard and Q are mirror images of each other, each so pleased and full of ego. Picard wants to have it both ways: relive his cadet years through the looking glass of thirty years of life's lessons and remain his oh so wise self. What does he get in return? A drink thrown in his face, the loss of his closest friends and winds up a fifty-something lieutenant.

"I can't live out my days as that person! That man is bereft of passion ... and imagination! That is not who I am! I would rather die as the man I was than live the life I just saw."

"There are many parts of my youth that I'm not proud of. There were loose threads, untidy parts of me that I would like to remove. But when I pulled on one of those threads it unravelled the tapestry of my life."

my BiL was mentoring some kid who wrote an ST story about Armageddon between the Borg and the Federation. It seemed to me that he was finding his answer to the Borg problem in violence and genocide and that I needed some kind of god to slap some sense into both sides. So I wrote Q into the story in order to do so.

I never cared for Q as a character, which also makes it kinda ironic that I used him in that story ending. I did not see many of the episodes, but he seemed like a silly character and the stories also tended to be too Picard-centered and I never cared that much for Picard either.

I would also have chosen "Encounter at Farpoint."
