Or, more likely, explain what you really meant and get rid of any misunderstanding.

Not knowing anything about the situation, it sounds very possible that the person concerned is irritated about something (which may or may well not be related to you) and needs to cool down - after that, it is very possible that they will be ready to speak. Rational explanation often totally misses the point because when we get emotional (and even I do at times) reason is the first casualty.
