My husband got a tattoo,
and I find myself extremely turned on by it. Now he wants two or three more. What is it about men with tattoos that's so damn hot?

I have a few things I need to spend my next few paycheques on first. Sadly body mods must take a backseat for the time being. (Though piercings not so much, sine they're much lest costly.)

No special significance. He found a design he liked and the artist altered it a bit. It's an armband. He wants one on the bicep part of his other arm, too. That one would be larger (and not an armband). I'll try to remember to take a picture of it, to share.

58. Tattoos suck
Thought I'd be a contrarian

Really don't like them. Artistically cornball, usually, basically marring the natural body with really bad art. Want to make art, use a canvas or something more suited.

Also, a fashion cliche of the current moment, meant to signify rebelliousness, but if everyone is doing it ....

Remember it costs about ten time the amount of money to take them off with laser treatments that it did to put them on.

63. People that make dumb blanket statements suck.
Some tattoos do suck. Some are done crappy. Others are done beautifully. The reasons for getting one can vary from "it looked cool" to a memorial for a lost family member. Also, for most people, they don't signify rebelliousness.

68. Never get your navel pierced
The navel sits in the middle of one of your body's natural hinge points. A piercing only heals properly if it's somewhere that doesn't move around.

Navel piercings heal extremely slowly--a year isn't uncommon--and they don't heal very well regardless.

The other site that sucks for healing is the nipple, especially on a woman. You're continually brushing against it with your clothes, seat belts, what have you.

If you can swear off sex for a month, simple dick piercings (Prince Alberts, frenums and lorums) heal real well, as do hood piercings. Facial piercings that don't protrude into the mouth (eyebrows and noses) heal okay. Ear piercings that don't hit cartilage heal well.

The only moving part of your body that heals well when it's pierced is your tongue. Tongue tissue mends very quickly for reasons I do not know, but it does. OTOH, the holes also grow closed faster than anywhere else on your body--you can lose a tongue pierce in a couple of hours.

72. My navel healed pretty easy.
I never had many issues with cartilage piercings. I think a lot of the problems come from people that are told totally wrong aftercare, get the wrong jewelry, or have some sort of metal allergy.

74. I've seen navels done with Anatometal titanium not heal
Anatometal is pretty much the "gold standard" (even though the guy who runs it despises gold) in body jewelry; his shit is made to the same standards with the same alloys as biomedical implants.

The place I go for ink has a piercer who uses Anatometal titanium and who sells it to the other piercers in the area. They're using APP aftercare guidelines, they're using titanium jewelry (the most biologically-compatible metal there is) and they're still having problems.

'Course, they're also piercing lots of soldiers--and soldiers do a lot of situps. This probably has more to do with the piss-poor success rate of this piercing than anything else. The same jewelry in a civilian heals better, but they're still not real happy with it.

Seriously? There are lots better places to get pierced.

...I always thought I'd get a broken or a torn barcode tattooed on my neck to carry a sign of a defective product.

On the other hand, if I want a picture on my skin, I can ask some gangbanger to tag me. Yawn.
