Parents Realize Next Day They Left Son At Chuck E. Cheese
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A 6-year-old Florida boy who was accidentally left behind by his family after they celebrated his birthday at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant will temporarily remain in state custody.

A judge said the state Department of Children and Families will likely determine Tuesday whether Michael Emanuel can live temporarily with a relative.

Emanuel's family said they accidentally left him Saturday night and didn't notice he was missing until the next day. Each relative thought the child was with another family member.

Employees at the Boca Raton restaurant called police and the child was taken into state custody.

2. Getting left behind on your own BIRTHDAY
That's gonna pay for some therapist's vacation home in the Caribbean.

5. Getting left behind, on your birthday, and your parents don't realize it
until the next day.

Wow. I mean wow. That boy's therapist won't just get a Caribbean home, he'll be able to purchase an island.

My Dad -- even now -- is way too paranoid about this kind of stuff to ever have let this happen.... however, I can see my aunt having done this when my cousin was smalkl... she's scatty.

The kid was probably happier there than at home.

7. I wanna know how a parent can leave a child behind
at a place like Suck E. Cheese (or Fuck E. Cheese, depending on what your thoughts are  ). I mean, they got there with him. Did they decide ahead of time that he would stay with another one of his relatives? I mean, my sister has two kids, and she completely freaks out if she doesn't know their whereabouts. If it's too hard to remember to take your kid home from HIS OWN BIRTHDAY PARTY, make a list of who's there next time and check it before you leave. :grr:

Poor kid...

13. Heh. We call it "The Big Rat."
I dunno, I'm sure it was traumatising to the boy, but if there's a history of him going home with his aunt or cousins on a casual basis, it's perhaps understandable.

Nobody called child protective services on them.

And Jesus didn't even get to play Whack-a-Mole all night.

8. I can see leaving the kid at the restaurant,
I guess. I mean if it were a multiple car affair, you might assume he was with someone else, but you are still pretty much a shitbag for not checking.

But not noticing until the next day. Damn. Just, damn.

31. No, actually, you do understand
Any prudent parent would have double checked rather than assume somebody else had the kid.

I can understand being lost in the confusion for a short time. But overnight? That's just gross.

And you know I speak from experience...

15. My parents forgot me at home once
They turned around by the time they got to the top of the street.

They also left me in Canada when I was 10. They headed back to the states and got all the way to Niagara Falls before they noticed..LOL. It was a good two hour drive away. I walked around for a long time then went back to the McDonald's they left me at and stayed there until they came and got me.

Iowa for 18 years, don'tcha know ;-) ) so I can't say that King Rat's is the worst I've ever had, but it's certainly a worthy of a Hall of Fame nomination for bad pizza!

41. People who run screaming from somewhere tend to forget things
The parents were last seen hauling ass across the parking lot, fingers in their ears, yelling "God No!!! Make it stop!!!"

The poor bastard who plays Chuck E. Cheese was running after them yelling "Wait! You forgot something!"

The parents yelled back, "Fuck it, man. You keep it. We don't need it anymore!"

Then they got home..."Honey, where's Michael?"

42. why didn't the restaurant just call the parents
kids get left behind all the time, heck. I was at at a 6 year olds bday party at chuck e cheeses and all the kids got loaded up in different cars than the ones they came in. If the family is large(and it says that everybody assumed he was with a different family member) it's easy to get confused "is it mom's weekend, dad's or is he spending the night at grandma's etc.)
