30. He sings EVERY SONG like he's got a fucking strangulated hernia!
Whne I first moved to Connecticut, he lived in New Haven (his last name was Bolotin then), and--I swear this is true--charged people for SINGING LESSONS!

If the concept of paying HIM for singing lessons isn't the funniest fucking thing you've heard all day, you're unconscious.

 Pay HIM for teaching someone to sound like a cat in heat?

I saw him and Nicollette Sheridan in the lobby of the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Stamford, CT, about twelve years ago, and they had their entourage with them. There was a piano in the open area between the restaurant and the bar, and he was heading over to it. Hubby and I got the HELL out of there before he started the dry-heaving that is his "singing." :yoiks:

66. Lol, I must admit, I'm a fan of DMB, but most fans don't listen
to hear him sing. In Dave's own words, "Lyrics are just those little annyoying things between solos. . ." Most fans I know like them because, while he might not be able to sing well, they have some incredibly talented musicians. If you look at most of their live songs, bout three minutes are words, while most of it is the good stuff, just plain music and solos

And I like some of Dave Matthews' stuff, but if "Ants Marching" doesn't some of the most stupidest lyrics in rock (even the title is stupid!), I don't know what does.

As for musicians that should never have been born:

Toby Keith
Natalie Merchant (personal experience...boring, vapid, devoid of any contribution to mankind other than depressing music...to the umpteenth power)
Zamfir
Peter Buck (personal experience...that lasted several hours...THE biggest asshole I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with...at one point I prayed for death)
John Tesh
Yanni
Britney Spears

oh yeah...and John Ashcroft

20. Fred Durst
Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 04:32 PM by EOO
Durst is like Ryan Seacrest - they dont give a shit about music, they are businessmen disguised as music "experts". They're marketers, not guitar players or DJs.

The difference between Ryan Seacrest and a real DJ - a real DJ plays music that's worth listening to. Ryan Seacrest only plays the music that sells.

The difference between Fred Durst and a real musician - a real musician plays music. Durst is a vice president of Interscope Records.

I've been a musician for 35 years. I love good music. Maybe I paint with too broad a brush, but come on, 'Calender Girl'?, 'Breakin' Up Is Hard To Do'? If you don't agree that that's pap, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Compare this to the great tunes written by Holland-Dozier-Holland for the Supremes for instance.

But like the French say, "Chacun a son gout" (each to his own tastes).

Besides this is hardly a serious discussion.

34. Have you forgotten? Darryl Worley, of course
I could listen to "Pieces of Me" or "Mmmm-bop" hundreds and hundreds of times before I had to sit through this once...

Everyone get out your barf bags. You'll need them.

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Chorus
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Repeat chorus

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

94. I disagree on Jeff Lynne
Some of his production work in the eighties/nineties may have gotten a bit repetitive with all those loudly-smacking snare drums (then again, that seemed to be a feature of a lot of eighties rock; think "Born in the USA"...) but I think ELO was one of the last great singles bands of the rock era. (They did some great albums, too, but I think they were one of the last bands who released a string of great Top 40 singles.) I do prefer their earlier work (the whole disco thing kind of made them lose their "sound" IMHO) but they did some great stuff throughout their career. So I have to disagree; I am glad Jeff Lynne was born.

n'sync

Backstreet Boys

And the ones that got the modern craze going... New Kids on the Block.

I can not believe that as a pre-teen kid who was trained in music, I had any like for these guys at all. But, they were all over my wall and I went to NKOTB concerts.

They even had their own cartoon. :eyes:

50. Lest I forget Lee Greenwood.

http://www.caitlinproductions.com/subpage49.html
No "Overnight success," Lee Greenwood is an internationally acclaimed artist, who has often been described as the ultimate name when patriotism is mentioned in the entertainment industry. And . . . he earned this success the old fashioned way, by climbing the ladder one rung at a time. After years of struggling to gain recognition in the music industry, one song "God Bless The USA," transported Lee far beyond the ranks of normal stardom into a niche in America's pop culture that is seemingly reserved for he and he alone.

And not that it should be any surprise, but out of curiosity, I checked this site and guess what? You got it! *hint: not one of us!*

Notice donations to dem... think he donates to repubs as payback for all the damn times they play that one song.
