I have a toothache.
I just had a filling replaced yesterday, and my tooth has been giving me bouts of pain all day when I drink cold liquids.

Question: if you get a tooth filled (composite filling), it normally hurts (as in sensitive to temp) for a day or two after, right?

1. Eat carefully...
I've occasionally gone in for routine cleanings and ended up with a roaring infection by the end of the day. For this reason, I always give my mouth a break (eat soft foods with high protein content) on dental exam days, and I often take ibuprofin as a preventive measure.

If it's not better tomorrow, I'd call the dentist.

2. You should....
Rinse with warm salt water after cleanings. It will help sooth the gums and promote faster healing.

4. I had a filling replaced yesterday, too!
Mine cost $250.80 (no Insurance) for one lousy filling. How much was yours? Your last statement has been my experience.

5. $90.
I have insurance, but they will only cover up to the price of amalgam. I wanted composite, so I had to pay extra.
