I'm going to relent and buy a piece of wheeled luggage.
I used to hate the damn things, because walking through airports people always drag their "wheelies" behind them, run over my feet, cut in front of me and trip me or my husband or whomever happens to be walking in a straight path when the wheelie is zig-zagging all over. But I just spent a few days traveling and my shoulders were sore from my carry-on.

I REFUSE to check luggage most of the time - too much time to pick up bags, too often lost, etc. So I need a "wheelie" that can fit about a week's worth of stuff in it but also will fit into overhead bins on the plane. Is there such a thing?

Can anyone recommend size of the case (22", 28", whatever?) and/or brand you've liked?

1. This might help:

Scroll down for actual measurements.

The one I have has the wheels on the shortest side and it's ridiculously tippy. I've seen ones where the wheels are on the longest side and they look a lot better.

Good luck!

2. Rollaboard by Travelpro is a good one.

If you know any pilots or flight attendants, ask them what they use. I think a lot of them use Rollaboards. Some kinds have castering wheels so you can turn them sideways down narrow airplane aisles.

3. Yes, there's such a thing. I was like you for years
and took issue with the whole rolling luggage thing. But more recently I've begun to travel abroad, a week here and there, and I needed two things: a small bag that would carry about seven to ten day's worth of stuff, and a way to cart it around in the absence of good public transportation, or good roads or whatever. Wheeled luggage is the answer. I'll never go back. And I always carry it on.

4. You'll be happy you bought one.
It'll save you untold wear and tear and you won't need to see your chiropractor everytime you take a trip. Though, that's one way to get the crinks out and get back to normal.
