Tomorrow I'll be reunited
with a childhood friend I've not seen in 40 (FORTY) years! I'm a tad nervous, very excited and worried that we'll be SO different that we won't get along. Our husbands will be there too. 2 days in Niagara Falls reminiscing. We'll visit my Dad too, he was a friend of her parents when we lived in Scotland and so it will be nice for him to see her all grown up. I'll also visit my Mother's resting place. Just thought I'd share!

gotta not be nervous

3. Just after New Year's,
I saw a cousin I hadn't seen for 50 years. He called and said he and his wife would be at my house in half-an-hour. I almost threw up!

It worked out ok. They were only here for about an hour before their flight and it was great fun catching up on things...sorta!

4. I did something like that after only twenty years.
The thing that really struck me is how my friend's mannerisms, physical mannerisms, were so familiar to me after all the years. It was unexpected and very eerie. And no, we didn't get along. She stayed in the same town and I've been all over and done quite a bit. But it was still good to see her.

5. what a shame you didn't hit it off.
I've not seen her since I was 9 years old. We've both lost parents, had a son, I've been divorced and remarried, she's been married 25 years. It will be interesting to compare notes and maybe 'start' a new friendship. We've been communicating by snail mail (her) and email (me). We have spoken on the phone a number of times. It's odd to email someone then wait for a snail mail reply though

vive la difference eh?

:)

6. Certainly. And I wish you a very fine time together.
I had another friend from whom I'd been separated about fifteen years when we were reunited. We got along wonderfully during her visit, but it didn't rekindle anything. Of course, she's in western Canada and I'm in the eastern U.S. so perhaps she didn't see the point.

10. thanks! I miss my Mum
so I will spend time there tellng her all about her great-granddaughter and how gorgeous she is and how I miss having her (mum) around to call whenever I want to just chat.
I'll have a good visit with my Dad too, I've not seen him in a while. I just love Niagara Falls, I'm hoping to talk everyone into doing the maid of the mist.

good to see you again and again :)
