Snakes on a TRAIN
Edited on Thu Jun-08-06 10:29 AM by Monkey see Monkey Do
"The company (Asylum) also tapped (Eric) Forsberg to script its July DVD release SNAKES ON A TRAIN, directed by Peter (WHEN A KILLER CALLS) Mervis and starring Alby Castro, Ryanne Ruiz, Giovanni Bejerano and Al Galvez. It's scheduled for a DVD debut in July, and according to Forsberg, "The story follows a Mayan brujo (witch doctor) and his beloved Alma; she has been cursed with serpientes diabolico, and basically, she can’t stop producing snakes; they keep coming out of her. He can’t cure her, he can just keep her alive, so they’re trying to get from their village to Los Angeles, where his uncle is a very famous and powerful medicine man who will know how to help her.

"So we pick up the story as they’re being led over the border to a train, where they can jump on and make it to LA on an overnight ride. And this brujo is carrying jars of these snakes she’s produced; he can't kill them because they’re a part of her, they have a bit of her soul in them, so he must take them and her to his uncle. But you can’t travel a train with a bunch of snakes and a woman who’s cursed without something going wrong!"

Though this project was clearly inspired by a certain Sam Jackson-starring film coming out this summer, Forsberg notes, "I was basically given the title, and I made sure it was not a copy of SNAKES ON A PLANE, based on what I knew of it. This has its own wonderful, dark, magical story; it’s a good action/horror piece. It was shot on this great, real train, and my daughter’s in this one too, so I’m proud of that; she's been in several movies, and she's quite the little horror star. She was in ALIEN ABDUCTION, and she's one of the leads in NIGHT OF THE LEBEN TOD. She’s about as creepy a kid as you can get in a horror movie—she's a pretty violent character—yet she also stirs up a lot of sympathy."
