I had tickets for The Daily Show a year or two ago. We got there right when the tickets/info sheet said to get there and had to stand in line for a while. When they finally started letting people in, they announced that they routinely over-"sell" tickets for the show so the audience doesn't look half-full if there are some no-shows.

To make a long story short, we didn't get in to see TDS that night as they were way overbooked with no no-shows and they let people in on a first-come, first-served basis -- and as I said we got there exactly when we were supposed to.

I would advise showing up at least half an hour before they advise you to get there.
