I want to be a park ranger. Even if I could get hired - with no experience, no background, no education, none of that remotely relevant to such a job - the highest starting pay is half what I need to earn.

:(

positions. I am sure it has its rewards though for those that do. Tough to get on but I am sure those that do stay for a while.

I don't know about where you live, but here in Texas state parks have it rough. Never enough money and there are often layoffs. Not to mention the low pay. But nobody does it for the money. Just to be outdoors is enough.

2. Yeah. I need to be outdoors. But I can't earn what I need outdoors.

3. I am fortunate enough to work outdoors a lot
it is mostly good. Texas in August I could do without, though! And the increased skin cancer risk. But it does have its rewards.

But there are a lot of different outdoor jobs. A lot of natural resource type jobs do require a specialized degree and, if they are government jobs in particular, tend not to pay very well.
