This is notable for two things: 1.) Had sauerkraut for the first time in months. I had forgotten how delicious it is. 2.) Talked politics with my dad without it being a fight.
Basically, it was a fun evening. Had some sauerbraten with my kraut, and my dad was pleasantly surprised to discover that he could get two different kinds of cabbage with his dinner.
Anyone else had a good dining and/or parent experience recently?
I haven't had any of the above recently. Unless you count some long distance phone calls w/ my dad last week when he called to tell me my uncle died. He's normally very cold and tight-lipped when it comes to any showing of emotion and he talked a LOT. I learned some things about my family I didn't know and saw another side of my dad.
