1. Do you have a window unit or central air?
Man, I don 't know what I'd do without a/c even here in Ohio where the summers aren't particularly brutal. There would probably be a little less Droopy and a lot more washing the sheets.

2. Window.
Never could afford a central air installation. What can I say? I'm poor.

3. At least it will probably be a little cheaper to fix
and a lot cheaper to replace it if you need to.

4. Well, I'd not fix it...
It was $80 new. I'll just get a new one.

5. Never buy an air conditioner built in a cold country.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

6. Sorry for your loss
I hope you let go of your anger and think of all the times the air conditioner blew cool air. It did it's best, and through no fault of its own did it die. RIP, air conditioner.

7. Now it joins its forbearers on the curbside.
To be assumed into heaven by the big green truck.

8. I'd go with a Kenmore
For about $200 bucks you can sleep with the covers on at night and it will last a while. ;)

12. Chicago Area.
My house is a sun sponge. It gets damned hot in here, especially with the five computers running, with just fans in the windows.

17. We had some days in the high 80s recently.
My house has such thick lathe and plaster walls that the day's head doesn't actually percolate through til evening... And when it does the house is hotter than the outside for quite a number of hours.

14. But it's 60 degrees today!
And I have a 50-foot wall of nothing but windows facing west. And I am wearing a wool sweater, trying to avoid turning up the heat.

18. Yes, but it was making a LOT of noise when the compressor started.
Clearly it was on the way out.
