3. "My friends = hilarious"
I think not....

I'm assuming that "your friends" don't like the genre of country music and therefore don't appreciate the Dixie Chicks because of this.

Either that or your friends are part and parcel of the "Moran" family....

Freepers, stupid, whatever. It seemed to ME that primate1's
friends thought DC music was like cat's screeching. I
jokingly called them Morans. I have always loved Dixie
Chicks, even before Natalie joined them, and support them all
100% now. The CD is great, the music is fantastic and not at
all 'country' so should appeal to a broader audience. Go
check the Best Anti-War Video/Song thread, cause DC's are
already on there! xooxx

11. I've listened to the album...
Honestly, it bored me. It seemed so unpassionate for an album by women who are supposedly "mad as hell". I dunno, maybe you hear the passion where I don't, all I know is that to me, it seemed boring and didn't keep my interest at all.

I just posted that quote because I thought it was pretty funny. Obviously my friend who said that was being facetious.

15. I am just a bit more than tired of the Dem "required listening"
talking points. People getting flamed because they dare not like the Dixie Chicks, or couldn't give a rat's ass about Green Day or Kanye West. Being told to "DU" Dixie Chick polls out of some civic duty to the party. I like my music separate from my politics, and I'm not a fan, nor was I ever a fan, of the Dixie Chicks. I don't care what they said about Bush; they're not getting my money. Not a fan.

technically, your friend is giving the Dixie Chicks props.

See now, that's funny. I haven't heard the album, sincerly don't want to, and will chew off a limb to escape being forced to.

My dog was pretty quiet, only grunting a little and panting.

I like the Chick sometimes, but I still think that their long note in "Ready to run" was some of the most dissonant "harmony" this side of The Beastie Boys.

40. Okay
That IS funny.

I know guys who cannot stand Dave Matthews voice, but I love it.

I also adore really heavy metal, which some folks can't tolerate.

The Chicks don't appeal to everyone, even if they are politically on the side of what is true. Like System of a Down. I can't take them, but my kids think i should like them because of their politics.

Your music, like your lover (if you are lucky enough to have one) won't appeal to everyone, but as long as it works for you :)

54. But dammit, Primate1, unless you listen to the Dixie Chicks you SUCK
You SUCK as a democrat, because you are, in fact, a FREEPER. If you don't listen to the Dixie Chicks. Or if you watch Bruce Willis or Mel Gibson movies. Or listen to Ted Nugent. Or find U2 pretentious. Any of these are signs that you are, in fact, a freeper. In fact, lower than a freeper.

You see, the DU-faction of the Democratic Party has standards by which we shall judge who is "in" and who is "out".

And you, clearly, are "out".

Shame on you for not conferring sainthood on the Dixie Chicks, and judging them on their MUSIC, of all things. Fer Chrissakes, they don't like Shrubbie, and that means THEIR MUSIC IS GOOD. That's how you rate music. God. Also, you can rate music on the cuteness factor of the band members, and in this case, the Dixie Chicks win again.

Judging musicians and a band based on their music. How fucking dumb. Next thing you're going to judge painters by how well they paint, and not by the amount of money they give to ecological causes; or judge actors on their acting, not on their religious beliefs. Moron.

60. I don't knowl, but I'd suggest you decide whether you are with us
or against us. Because you can't be with us unless you are 100% percent with us. And yes, when republicans say that it's bad, but when Democrats say that, it's just a common sense appeal to our collective definition of justice and in our fight against injustice and unfairness and non-inclusivity. That's why we're so exclusive about it, because we're so serious about inclusiveness.

Dixie Chicks are victims of the right wing takeover of the media.

Yea, it's okay for Limbaugh, Hannity, Snow, O'Reilly, Savage, FOX, Ingraham and the long list of lying fucking neocons to daily trash every sane person in the world who ever pointed out the fascist seizure of the government by the Bush administration, but if one goddamn musician expresses that she is ashamed that the president is from her state, . . . .

You need new friends, musical tastes or no.
