A bit of milk, no sugar. (Cuz I'm already sweet enough, of course)

Sheesh, that should have been an option, already!

Hot murky liquid never appealed to me when I can have glorious orange juice or water instead.

My only vague knowledge of what coffee tastes like is a few pieces of coffee candy.

34. I only drank it occasionally until the last year...
I grew up drinking Coke. In Japan, I drank tea and Coke, was surprised at how often Japanese offered me coffee, since I wasn't crazy about it. After moving back to the states I got fat and switched to diet coke, kept gaining weight, quit smoking, gained more weight and got really addicted to the diet drinks and hit 275 lbs. I decided that drinking 2 liters a day of Diet soda was not helping me, so I quit and replaced the caffeine with coffee. I now enjoy it very much, although I do find that "I need it to function" in the morning. There are times when I'm not in the mood and I have tea instead. Either way, I'm glad to have gotten nasty diet drinks out of my life.

I do understand "not acquiring the taste", since I acquired it so late in life, but there are so many different ways to take coffee, it surprises me there are folks who don't like any of them.

I like it black, with a little sugar. Occasionally, I add milk. I don't use cream, especially not that fake creamer crap. Blech.

37. Did you drink mugi-cha in Japan?
We drink mugi-cha (barley tea) all year round. It's nice to have in the fridge and it replaces the desire to have diet sodas. I don't think it has caffeine, though.

38. I Have never gotten the taste for mugi-cha.
I call it "muri-cha", which is a play on words. Drinking it is "muri" - impossible. I like regular green tea, oolong and jasmine tea, but I don't care for mugi or genmai tea.

And I likes my caffeine, so I drink coffee in the daytime.

Japanese can coffee they sell in the vending machines is swill, though.

The can coffee is good, but I like the mixed fruit drinks they sell better. In the summer, I really appreciated those vending machines!

41. I buy from them when in a bind...
but the only thing I like in them is the oolong tea, which seems top be sadly declining in popularity. And I try not to buy from them as we have kids and a tight budget, and they are the most expensive way to quench your thirst. Usually brew my own coffee or tea.

The machines are nice in winter too, since they have hot cans!

(Why do I feel like I just said something sexist?)

59. i can't handle diet soda drinks either...
i drink altogether toooo much soda- all of it "regular" and it's usually caffeine free. i can't stand the taste of diet drinks, and neither can my wife- and it might surprise you to learn that neither of us is especially overweight- (i.e. we can both look down & see our own genitalia without the aid of a mirror)

i don't drink tea all that much either- i don't like hot beverages in general, although i'm not all that fond of iced teas either.

i make GREAT lemonade (juice & strain 4-5 lemons, add 7/8 cup of sugar and one gallon of water), and i've been trying to drink more juices- i like to cut them with about 1/3-1/2(by %) water and pour it over ice.

i get my daily caffeine dosage from a 222 tablet- it's an OTC pain-reliever in canada not available in the usa- a mix of aspirin, caffeine, and codiene...everything you need to greet the day.

29. I am 7+ weeks CAFFEINE FREE, after 20+ yrs of total addiction!
:woohoo: I used to drink a major strong cup o' coffee every day of my life, first thing in the morning, but then I did this whole de-tox, cleanse thing back in April, where you had to give up coffee, completely.
The first day was brutal, (10 hr de-tox headache from HELL)but I survived and have been feeling really great ever since. Lots of energy, I feel clearer, less jangled, less stressed. Caffeine really does a number on your adrenal system and liver.

I can't tell you how huge this is for me to be caffeine free. It's big. Seriously.

Been drinking coffee since I was 3...my parents would mix it with lots of sugar and milk in a tall glass. Oh well, can't bring 'em back (the adrenals), guess I'll have a cuppa coffee!

Seriously, though, I admire your resolve and ability to break a habit.

It's like wine! Can never find it anymore. I usually take coffee with 2 sugars and some 2% milk. Cream is heaven, but I gotta avoid the chloesterol.

Now, I like my tea with no milk at all. Fave tea is Lapsang Souchong. Smoky. Tarry. Mmmmmm!

43. Here's how I maintain a Normal Blood Pressure
At approx 6:00, my 8 year old son usually comes into our room with Red Bull for Daddy. I quaff said Red Bull in a single swig and express my appreciation for having such a thoughtful son. I then spoon with my 7 month pregnant wife and feel my soon to be released daughter kicking me in the butt as if to say get the fuck outta bed and get to work Daaaaad. In about 5 minutes the Red Bull kicks in and I shower, dress and start my commute, I stop at the Starbucks for a large and get to work at about 7. At 10, I go over to the Dunkin Donuts for a Large. Another Red Bull at about 1 or 2 in the Afternoon.

I like coffee either Black or with half and half only......

Percolator-brewed robusta-infested swill like we have at the office needs all the help it can get (and we only have fake creamer, so I almost never drink office coffee unless I'm really desperate.)

Todd in Beerbratistan, who also has traces of blood in his caffeine system ;)

At home, I drink it black with sugar.

But at Starbucks, jeez. Number one, their coffee is insanely strong to me and has a weird taste, so if I don't bury it under a ton of creme and sugar it's undrinkable. Same for most coffees not made in the home.

I gotta say, the majority of the time when I think "coffee" I think lots of sugar, a little cream...but I don't really crave "coffee" as I see it all that often.. I love me some iced coffee, a frappucinno, a black-as-hell espresso with no sugar, and some foo-foo coffee all at different times.

I am all about changes in flavor, moreso than liking one in particular.

71. Coffee is good for you!
Studies have shown that coffee is good for your liver. People who drink one cup of coffee per day get mild benefits to their liver's health. People who drink 4 cups per day get substantial health benefits for their liver.

74. Triple Grande Organic Cappucino here.
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 02:20 AM by haruka3_2000
It sounds fancy but there's no sugar crap in it. Just three shots of espresso and organic milk.

At home, I usually make Cafe Habitat's Wicked Women's Roast. Cafe Habitat is an organic fair-trade coffee company that is roasted by a co-op of homeless. You can't get more liberal than that. I grind the beans myself and I only make it in a French Press. I drink it black or I mix in Silk Hazelnut Creamer.

80. My boyfriend is in South Dakota right now,
and he says good coffee is very scarce there. We are both used to primo coffee & cappuccinos & iced espressos at our whims.

83. It needs to be so mochacchino'd or whatever the hell...
... that it no longer tastes like coffee.

I can drink the frou-frou Starbucks creations, but regular plain coffee makes me retch.

86. Overpriced! Iced Decaf. Bad for Brain in a big way.
I try and stay away from the stuff, because it messes with my head very badly, the concoction is addictive.
