*Losing weight without diet or exercise* Viral infection.
Well I tried to post on this several times last week but was so out of it I couldn't hold a thought long enough to post-yeah me go figure.

I apparently did post somewhere on DU on Wednesday-Friday but Friday is the only day I completely remember. Let me say I apologize for my fevered madness.

WOW did that suck.

Tuesday afternoon about 4:30 I am sitting in my office shooting the bull with a co-worker when suddenly I got horribly cold. The night before I had gone home and taken a nap which I was only able to do because my mom was staying with us watching Josie who was home from daycare because of a virus she had. I caught it from her. So I drive home on Tuesday with the windows up on the car and the heat on. The next day I went to the "Doc-in-a-box".

The doctor there had the best bedside manner I have ever seen. He checked me out initially and left and came back and sat down and said "The blood test show that you have what your daughter had. YOU are a public health menace. You should not have any face to face with anyone other than your family for 36 hours." Then he said something I had never heard (still haven't confirmed this) "You should never take an antihistamine without a Doctor DIRECTLY telling you to" Really? apparently he said that antihistamines just block the symptoms of sinus problems they don't get rid of them like decongestants do this can lead to, in the worst cases, pneumonia.

Oh okay I am sick no big deal. I got the decongestant and went home. Eh I'm never really THAT sick so I did laundry, washed dishes, whatever and then WHAM! it hit me.

I don't actually remember what happened on Thursday at all other than laying in bed all day. I mean from 9 AM to 5PM with a full 30 minute full hot shower at 1 PM. That was my day.

Well I am feeling much better now. The fever broke on Friday and I quit taking the decongestant yesterday....eh don't need it I never get THAT sick.

:eyes: :dunce:

1. Gee, I thought heartbreak was the best way to lose weight
without resorting to a diet and exercise. I guess I'll try the viral infection next time.

Glad you're feeling better!

8. I was wondering where you were.
You didn't reply to my post about Mike and his open heart surgery, so I was about to send out a search party.

10. The day after we buried Grandpa
I had to take Mike to the St. Francis ER because we thought his pneumonia was worse.

Wrong. Congestive Heart Failure. So they admitted him, got him stable and this past Tuesday I took him to Chippenham for a cardiac cath. They thought he either had a small blockage or a virus that caused the congestive heart failure.

Turns out he had 100% blockage in two of the three main arteries. Had a quadruple bypass on Thursday.

He is doing much, much better. It was a terrible week. He is off the ventilator, off the balloon pump that helped his heart and off all the IV drips.

They are going to move him into the step down hopefully tomorrow. The surgeons must take a class in gloom and doom because on Tuesday, he was saying that he didn't think he would survive the surgery. Nurses are much more upbeat, mainly because he is healthy otherwise and never smoked. He is the youngest guy in there, 53.

Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the show?

14. He's doing great. That's all that matters at this point.
My work, his work have been wonderful. My best friend from college is coming up tomorrow to stay with the kids so I can stay with him overnight in the step down. I really want to talk to the surgeon about his recovery, but they round so early and the ICU doesn't let you in until 10.

All that matters at this point to me is that he is still here and going to be fine.

12. I had a doctor tell me a similar thing about antihistamines
They prevent proper draining. He recommended saline solution up the nose. It worked.
