GELSENKIRCHEN (Reuters) -- Three hours before they faced the Czech Republic in their opening Group E World Cup match on Monday, the U.S. national team received a good luck phone call from President George W. Bush

"You've been doing a great job in preparation," Bush said. "The whole country is behind you. Give them hell."

Arena thanked the President for his well wishes and said he was sure Bush would be proud of the team.
