Ben Rothlisburger in motorcycle accident in Pgh.
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 11:06 AM by napi21
This just reported on WPPT in Pgh. Ben was injured in a motorcycle accident at 10th St. near the Armstrong tunnel. He was taken to the hospital, but there's no report on his condition yet.

For you non-Steeler people, Ben is the Steeler QB winning the SuperBowl this year!

Go bless you Ben. I hope you weren't hurt bad.

Edited for spelling.

1. isn't there a no-motorcycle clause in his contract?
i thought that was pretty standard nowadays

no skiing, no dirt bikes, no motorcycles, no bungee jumping, etc.

2. That's what I thought also
Even if there isn't, it's just foolish for him to be on a motorcycle.

5. Here's a little more from Profootballtalk.com
ROETHLISBERGER WRECKS

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reports that Steelers quarterback Ben Roetlisberger has been injured in a motorcycle accident near the 10th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh.

(As of 12:10 p.m. EDT, the Tribune-Review's web site had crashed, apparently due to the enormous spike in traffic.)
The accident occurred at 11:37 a.m. He was not wearing a helmet.

Per WTAE-TV, Roethlisberger has been taken to the trauma unit at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. There are no specifics as to his condition.

A witness to the aftermath of the accident told WTAE at 12:11 p.m. that Roethlisberger was alert and talking to paramedics, but there was "blood everywhere." The witness also said that Roethlisberger was wearing a neck collar.

8. A cervical collar is SOP for victims of an MVA
Assume neck injury and protect the spine until X-rays show extent of injury.

19. Big Ben 'alert and conscious' after bike crash

Maybe the lack of one was an oversight and that's why his riding without one has made the news so much?

I still think it's stupid that they repealed the helmit law anyhow.

A woman. Glad she's not from Pittsburgh cause it would be hell in Steelertown to be the person who took out Big Ben.

BTW, heard it was a Ninja type bike - not saying Big Ben was riding that way but there are tons of riders in Pittsburgh who ride those things like idiots. I wonder as they pass me at 100+ their lifespan.
