Wanna bawl? DUing to the very end; a blast from the past (DU1)

I finally found the old DU1 (ie before July '03) archives, having lost the link when I bought the new computer. This is a thread about the passing of a wonderful older DUer, posted by his great-grandson. If you read the entire thread, you'll find that apparently he was posting to the very end. That isn't the wonderment of the thread, though; it is a young man helping his elderly great-grandfather find a like-minded community even though the young man holds diametrically opposed political views. (The young man is still here under another name that slips my mind at the moment. Though he's a bit center-right, I don't think he'd call himself a "staunch Republican" today)

PS: As much as we may lament how many of us have faded away over the years, it's truly remarkable how many of these posters are still here. Now if we can only get NSMA to come back!:)
