Why is there a bar code scan thing in my mailbox?
A few months back the post office put a little sticker in my mailbox. It has a bar code, my address, and some numbers (I think). Everytime one of the many mail delivery people that works in my area drops off my mail, they get out a electronic scanner thingy. At first I figured that it was for keeping track of the mail-people and how fast they do their routes or something like that. But today I happened to notice that the mailman didn't scan anything at my neighbors house. Being the highly trained DU skeptic/cynic that I am...conspiracy theories started poking into my thought process! That and I'm just curious.

Anybody have any ideas?

Or if you are the less confrontational type, just ask your mail carrier.
