I've spent 10 minutes watching web pictures twist and groove on me. (I'm updating my iPod). Colors sfiht, and it's a really relaxing feeling. Too bad I couldn't take some and go to a museum or a rave.... I think it would be great fun, then, except for the sleeping part.

1. Hide your car keys
:P

Supposedly people are more likely to drive while asleep after taking Ambien if they stayed up for a while or something. Or drank alcohol.

3. Yeah, and please don't take it any night before you need to vote this year
We don't want you sleep voting, either.

13. No worries - we vote absentee. The whole county does.
It's easier and works better for everything but presidential years. (We're not allowed to do it for presidential years.)

14. So far, so good.
I am prone to sleepwalking, but Ambien seems to work very well for me. I'm also a chronic insomniac (hey, can I have a side of narcolepsy with these sleep disorders? Thanks! ) so 99% of the time, it's an absolute blessing for me. If I didn't have it, I think I'd be in a lot more trouble.

2. I knew, I knew, I knew! Sonata did that to me, too, once.
It was great. My doctor said that in the clinical trials, .04% of the participants reported having that reaction to Sonata. I was the first to experience it in her practice, though. I felt so special.

4. Ambien gave my dad a bad trip.
He was scared to take it and he had done a bunch of drugs (prior to me being born). For a light trip, MDA is great.

6. Only if you drink a shitload over a long period of time.
Thujones are a neurotoxin. I have a bottle on my shelf right now. My parents brought it back from Europe for me. It's the fourth bottle of absinthe that I've had. It's definitely a different intoxication than regular alcohol. You're drunk, but you feel very clear-headed, motivated. Most productive night of my life involved absinthe and cocaine. I'm sure I killed off some brain cells, but I also got a lot of shit done.

8. Yes, he was known to drink large quantities (Hemingway too).
It was a very popular drink among the Parisian artists at the time.

Hemingway also has the quote, "Got tight on the absinthe last night. Did knife tricks." I saw it on a t-shirt when I was in London, but they didn't have my size.

12. Trust me - it doesnt
:)

Don't get me wrong, it's good stuff and the thujone (aka Wormwood) does stuff to you besides the alchohol - but it's a VERY mild hallucinogen if anything. Basically if you've ever taken shrooms or LSD, you get the "brightness" that you get from that but thats it.

10. Oh, I loved that
I would settle down for the evening, take my Ambien, and then try to stay awake for as long as possible. It got trippy! I never did any sleep-driving or sleep-eating, tho'.

11. Things change colors and move when I take it.
My cats are various combinations of white, gray and black. It's odd when I start seeing blues and green.

Walls change from pale yellow to almost any other pastel color, and move inward and back out again.

16. 10mg or 5mg?
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 10:43 PM by LoZoccolo
I usually only need 5mg to get to sleep so I take that or 6.25mg Ambien CR (which is like taking 3.75mg right away and then 2.5mg like 3 hours later, it's time-release). I notice a weird sedated feeling if I end up staying up on it but nothing too weird. But I don't stay up intentionally, it's just like, if it's a really bad night.

17. Just wondering
How long have you been taking Ambien? What they usually don't tell you about Ambien is that you will develop a dependence on it if you take it consistantly for about a year, and after about a year or so, it will not work anymore. Ambien was meant to reset our sleep clocks that were out of whack, then we were supposed to sleep like regular people do without the Ambien. Unfortunately, most people develop a dependence on it. I did, I loved ambien, but when I found I had to take two, three pills to sleep, I knew there was something amiss.

Usually at that point, they switch you to Rozerem 8mg., non dependent, and works in a much different way. It actually goes directly to the brain and induces sleep. Side effects are a horrible taste in the mouth which can be avoided by taking the pill with Orange Juice.

Well, that pill was too weird for me, I just couldn't take it,so now I'm drinking warm milk before I go to bed.

Yeah, ambien was sweet while it lasted.
