2. I saw this thread title, and went to mets.com immediately.
I was watching the game online, but got distracted around the 8th inning.

They are on fire. If you check both the National and American leagues, guess who is #1 overall?

5. Mets have the best winning percentage in baseball, as of today
The Tigers have won one more game, but they've also lost one more game. The next closest team in their division is playing .500 ball. The Mets are 19 games over .500. The next closest team is 9.5 games out.

What's surprising is how this season thus far has been strung together with little fanfare. The Tigers run has been much ballyhooed by the sports commentators, but the Mets run has received relatively little attention. Maybe all the sports commentators expect the Mets to fold, and the Tigers to stay strong, but they've been expecting the Mets to fold for two months now....It's starting to get hard to argue that it's "early in the season," "you'll see" etc. They've played solid .600 and over ball consistently, all season.

7. I think it's the New York syndrome.
While the Yankees have been playing worse ball, they still get the headlines. Coverage has been getting better in the NY papers, but if Torre gets heartburn it's a major news story.

I remember Willie Randolph's mantra last year. "If we would win two out of three, we'll be in good shape." Well, that's exactly what they've been doing this year. I think they've only lost, like, one or two series. The rest, they took two out of three, or three out of four. That four game sweep of the Diamondbacks last weekend had me creaming! They outscored Arizona, what, like 37-9 and the previous year 39-7?

From my observations over the past few years, the Braves usually surge after the All-Star Break. Let's hope our boys keep up the momentum.

3. Meet the Mets
Greet the Mets.

Step right up and beat the Mets.

I know a guy who plays for 'em — X Nady. Went to high school here.

I think he's still on the DL because of his appendix.

6. Hottest team in the majors
Each day I'm getting a stronger and stronger feeling that we will have a repeat of 86...I don't want to get too excited because it is still June. But by the way that they've been playing all year, how can you not!
