Least favorite song by a band/performer you love
This tends to be their big hit after years of toil and trouble. You were there in the lean years-their music was really important to you and you got them but all anyone knows is "Aren't they the ones who do that Doodoowapwiddle song?"

:eyes: "Sigh,..... Yeah"

Either that or they complete sold out and/or popped back up years after they were really good and laid a complete egg (See Yes's "Owner of a lonely heart" for example)

"She's got a ticket to ride" by the Beatles GAWD! I hate that song.

Anyone in any form or combination who does "Dancing in the Streets".

1. The Tubes - The Monkey Time
From the "Outside Inside" album, the same album that featured "She's A Beauty." Also the second album produced by David Foster. The first, "The Completion Backward Principle" is absolute genius from beginning to end. "Outside Inside," slightly less so. As I understand it, David Foster wanted to have one side of the album be all The Tubes, and the other side be all of his pals (basically Toto) with the Tubes vocals on top. They wanted none of that, but he still forced "The Monkey Time" on them. Bill Spooner was actually driven to state in the liner notes that he had nothing to do with the song. If I recall correctly, he also left the stage when they performed it live.

There's still some great material on there, particularly the first three tunes and "Wild Women Of Wongo." Luckily, they got Todd Rundgren back and did "Love Bomb" next, an album that's still ahead of its time 20 years later.

I must, however, take issue with your disparagement of "Owner Of A Lonely Heart". Is it on the level of "Close To The Edge" or "Heart Of The Sunrise"? No, but it was never meant to be. It has to be looked at as a pop song. As a pop song, it's still MILES better than stuff that was coming out at the same time. Same thing with Genesis' "Invisible Touch" album. It's no "Selling England By The Pound," but the songs on it are far superior (songwriting-wise) to most of what it was competing with.

3. "Box of Rain" by the Grateful Dead
What a la-dee-da piece of hippie crap.
John
From their later days, "Victim or the Crime" sucks pretty hard, too.
It is now 22 hours, 48 minutes to FUNDAY. Anybody want directions? DUmail me.

6. GASP! Box of Rain? Are you nuts?
How about any non-countryish song sung by Bobby? "Hell in a Bucket"? "Let It Grow"?

Unless Weir dons the metaphorical cowboy hat, every song he sings blows, almost without exception.

7. Well, that's just my opinion, y'know
Has there ever been a Dead concert where Bobby doesn't forget/screw up some lyrics? I've been to (only) eight shows and have around another 150 on tape/cd/mp3 and I've got to say I don't think so. Doesn't mean I don't love him/them anyhow.
John
It is now 20 hours, 39 minutes to FUNDAY. We've got a 45-minute Dead set worked into the 12-hour FUNDAY RADIO playlist. Sans "Box of Rain."

8. Blind Melon- "No Rain"
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the song, and I love the video for it. But I resent the hell out of the fact that Blind Melon is widely known by this song alone, a song that couldn't begin to define who they were as a band.

Sigh. They had a lot of really good songs that most people have never heard of. Like "Change", "I Wonder", "Candy Says." etc.

10. Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss" remake
What really grates me are the people who only know them from their first album, and THIS song. I wish the radio would stop playing this (LK).
