Can anyone explain why the Brewers were moved to the National League?
Which upset the balance of the leagues, AL-14 teams. NL-16 teams. AL West has 4 teams. NL Central has 6 teams. :wtf:
For some reason the move was never satisfactorily explained to me.

1. Arizona came to the NL and TB to the AL
They decided to put the Brewers to the NL. Don't know excatly why. I thnik they should have 2 expansion teams; an AL WEst team in Vegas and an AL east team in CHarlotte.

2. 15 teams per league always leaves one team not playing.

4. Thats where interleague comes in.
The odd teams play each other just to round off the schedule.

5. Not all the time though. There are only certain times of the year when
there is interleague play.

Plus, the Milwaukee Braves were in the National League...why not the Brewers. Plus, if you think about it, the Brewers were amongst the better teams to make this switch.

6. Yes, the national leauge...
Where we play REAL baseball. None of this wussy-ass designated hitter shit.

You play on the field, you should play at the plate.

17. Still haven't forgiven the Cards for '82
Man, that would be a Hell of an NLCS, Cards-Brewers. I can only imagine What Milwaukee would be like if they won the pennant.

But, I say, if they're gonna win a World Series, it should be next year's, just so whoever's calling the game can say "The city of Milwaukee has been waiting half a century for this moment."

13. here in chicago they're the best attended games of the season.
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 10:06 PM by QuestionAll
it's very good for business- they've created all sorts of intracity/regional/state rivalries to exploit on the interleague game series days.

and ultimately- baseball, like all other sports, is all about the business.

by making mke nl, both they and msp have an interleague rival.

12. Maybe because they didn't have enough BEER in that league...
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 09:12 PM by scoey1953
Heard about a pitcher once, traded from one triple A team to another for a box of
baseballs, Three Rawlings gloves and 12 Cases of Beer.
Its true, because Vin Scully said so.

Had they thrown in a few packages of Farmer
John's Dodger dogs, it would have been a
real sweet deal!

16. Because, with 15 teams, interleague play would leave an odd man out.
So the Brewers volunteered to join the National League, which was what the Braves originally were anyway. Think of it as going back home...

18. Imagine, had it not been for Pereni selling them off to William Bartholmey
The Braves would have stayed in Milwaukee and kicked some major ass.

21. But if it were 15-15 there wouldn't be an odd man out, right?
But I can agree with the comment about going back home. When it happened, I remember seeing people on the news broadcasts remarking that Milwaukee always thought of themselves as an NL city, anyway. Don't know how true that is, but it makes sense with the Braves and all ...

24. My father was livid...and I mean LIVID when the Brewers came to
town as an American League team. He vowed to never again go to another game... that didn't last very long. :) He's glad they're a National league team. :)

I consider it already infected by that disease.
