My unadopted foster kittens (photo)
Mary Ann has been adopted but Ginger and Gilligan (in photo below), and their wonderful mom, are still available, if you are in the DC area.

Aren't they cuties?

10. I've had a couple myself.

They were such sweet, loyal cats. Sweetie pies, even. They were just random cats that wondered up to my house and loved me...It was weird. There were two at my mom's house, then when I lived in a different town, another one adopted me. It was so weird.

9. Have ALWAYS wanted a red tabby. They are so social & sweet.
But somehow I have always been owned by other sorts of cats ;)

They are just precious. I want one, but the resident feline might object strongly.

11. I love cats -- from afar -- because I'm allergic...
But they are adorable -- hope you find homes for them.

You can also try www.craigslist.com if you want. Make sure you are looking at the right page for DC.

Warm regards,

Radio_Lady in Oregon

20. thanks, I will keep that in mind--the org. I volunteer for has a website
and in the past we've found good homes through that but it's just so unusual to have so many little orange tabbies available at the same time.

13. Spooky -- I used to live in DC, and you KNOW I would love these guys!
But, alas, I'm 3,000 miles away now and our house has filled up its pet quota and then some ... *sigh*

It would be great if someone adopted both kittens together, too ...

19. Oregon is so beautiful--but I wish you could adopt them also
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 09:17 PM by spooky3
There is a family who is interested but I am a little concerned because there is a big dog, no other cats, and one young daughter who doesn't quite "get" that you can't always have your way with kittens (Gilligan was afraid of her and hid). Fortunately the animal welfare org. I volunteer for is totally supportive of my concerns on the pets' behalf, and if after we meet again I am still concerned, they will not permit their adoption to this particular home.

The kittens' mother would be perfect for them (and the mom of the family agrees) but the kids want kittens, and I would not let mama go to any home that wasn't crazy about her, because she is so wonderful and deserves a great home and is young and needs attention. I think she'll find a happy home too, but if she doesn't I will keep her. In all the years I have done this I have resisted keeping every foster because I don't have room to foster if I weaken and keep another cat.

One of my own cats is so terrific with these fosters (the other is good but is more typical). They absolutely love their "uncle" and he puts up with all kinds of behavior from them. Gilligan was willing to come out when the potential adopters were here ONLY when their uncle was in the room and G went over and sat next to him (it was so sweet) until the little girl went berserk again. Uncle likes to be washed with a washcloth, so every night he begins his lobbying in the bathroom. Tonight the kittens all decided to follow him into the bathroom for the first time (very crowded!) and one of the kittens fell asleep in the bathroom under one of his paws, so he was careful not to move, and the other two came in and danced all around him while he was getting cleaned. One of them enjoyed a little washcloth-ing too but the other only wanted to lick the wet cloth :-). Mama brought in her toy mouse and tried to get some attention too. I would have loved to have a video of this scene!

Mary Ann has a great home as of July 5; she'll be very happy there.

Thank you for taking the time to find them a good home!
