Hey, I Found the Phone Scam - active in our area

If you get a call asking you to take an unfamiliar collect call - hang up the phone. It is a prison scam.

Prisoners then ask you to dial certain numbers which allow them to control your phone number. They can then use your number to make long distance calls that can cost you a whole lot.

An alert came out from the Illinois Attorney General on this.

Also, be very careful with 809 area code or 90*. Those numbers allow people to control and use your long distance lines.
