I have question about the film "Lean on Me" and the real Joe Clark...
Although I think it is an entertaining movie, and Morgan Freeman is one of my all time favorite actors, just how successful was the real life Joe Clark in turning around his inner city New Jersey high school? I found the following information about him, but I don't know how accurate it is, since there is no bibliography:

From en.wikipedia.org

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Louis_Clark

"In rebuttal, Clark has been criticized on some things. Teachers at the school claimed he was autocratic and tyrannical. Many left rather than continue to work with him. One teacher claimed Clark had her escorted off campus by police after she disagreed with him on a minor subject. It was also pointed out that while discipline problems lessened under Clark, the students test scores didn't rise as highly as the movie would have one believe. Many have also accused the controversial educator of being an anti-Semite. Clark claimed in one interview that Jews had bought the whole state of Florida. During a nationally-televised talk show, he called another guest a "Hymie"."

Did academics improve during his stint as principal? Where can I find more information?

Peace,
