My dad's name is Garrett. Good Democrat and good dad. He's a dad who's like a friend.

7. Good to hear it, SOteric and Lautremont
My dad did not come from a Democratic family, but he thought for himself. Was a Clinton fan (some of that is because he thought he could win,) and has gotten more liberal.

13. His name was George.
He was a good guy. Far from perfect, but he always did his best.

He was a Democrat. I don't know if he was an atheist, but he sure wasn't a Christian. He would yell DAMMIT, but he never used obscenities, and he was quite prudish.

I was his baby girl, and he spoiled me rotten. He had a drinking problem, and sometimes I hated him, and sometimes I loved him. I'm happy that we had enough time together after I grew up that we got to be friends, because I was always friends with my mom.

Thanks mvd for this thread. I've never before really thought about how cool it is to be friends with your dad.

Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 12:08 AM by bumblebee1
Everyone called him Bob, except for my grandmother. She'd call him Bobby. In fact, if he were still alive, he would have been 80 this past Thursday.

My father-in-law's name was Gregory, Greg for short.

30. My dad's name was Ernest...
He was a great old Roosevelt Democrat, with a mind as broad as all outdoors. I miss him but I'm glad he's not alive to see what's going on with our country now. It would break his heart.
