List five facts about yourself...
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 10:58 PM by scoey1953
They can be any facts about you from blood type to what you love...so long as its a fact
about you. I have listed mine.

1. I only eat Veggies, Fruits, fish and Poultry. No meat. (Can't digest it.)
2. Afraid of Heights,(except flying) though I once climbed up two stories on a fire escape. Hated coming down...why do people always shake the ladder when they know your scared to death?
3. I collect sports and celebrity autographed photos. Have some nice ones!
4. I once actually worked for a real commerical radio station as an annoucer midnight-6am shift.
5 Been to Moorea Tahiti.

11. I've never heard of an allergy to avocadoes. Is there anything else
you're allergic to that would explain what the specific substance is that you're allergic to? Nuts in general or a type of nuts specifically, maybe?

I'm genuinely curious.

21. Two of my kids are allergic to avocados...
Well...actually only one so far but I'm expecting the other to follow in his big brother's footsteps.

Both of them are allergic to bananas. That's how it started. As they've gotten older, other things have jumped in. Now my oldest has problems with nuts and avocados and some other things...

So far, with the youngest, it's just the bananas...the nuts are starting, I think. And I can't get him to go anywhere near enough to an avocado to find out.

They're Green, y'know. And lumpy.

27. I've read that avocado, banana and latex allergies usually go together
I can't stand bananas anyhow, so I don't really know if they are problematic for me or not.

I sometimes get rashes from latex but not consistently. I don't know if my latex problem is with the latex itself or with casien (a dairy derivative used in most latex) but I avoid it both due to the occasional reactions, since I've read that latex sensitivity gets worse with exposure, and because of the potential for animal product contamination.

86. My dear Retro!
You will turn my head with your compliments!

I was about 10 years old....and my father loved railroads.

One day our whole family drove down to the rail yard to watch the trains switching.

There was a steam locomotive that was just about to be moved. The engineer asked my little brother if he'd like to drive it.

He said yes, and so my mom, and me and my brother all got into the cab.

But my brother changed his mind, so the engineer asked me if I'd like to...

Good thing I didn't have to steer! I could hardly get it to move steadily, but I did drive it!

We all had a very good time, and a very good laugh too!

23. I always felt I couldn't
handle looking after people who were ill. I hate to see people in pain. Looking after them, once they have passed is easy, it's an honour. Comforting their families is such a priviledge! When my mother passed away, I prepared her. A trusted friend/co-worker did the embalming and I took care of everything else. It was a gift to my father. I was able to give him back a vision of the woman he'd loved for almost 50 years and erase the pained memories of seeing her suffer. It's truly something I enjoy and feel blessed to have been able to do for people.

94. Okay here's your details
1. Guess which finger?

I was commuting 3-4 hrs a day to college. (if I didn't make the train/bus/subway connections, that's where the hourly difference could come in)The train was pulling out of the platform in Union Station, Toronto, just as I rushed up the stairs. Perhaps it was teenage anst, I yelled and flipped the bird. The conductor must have seen it, because it stopped for me and I quite happily boarded. :-)

2. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:Vm18Ug6XFCkJ:www.dccouncil.washington.dc.us/patterson/pages/prinfo/Hazmat%2520Trespass%2520excerpt.doc+mississauga+train+accident&hl=en&gl=ca&ct=clnk&cd=9

Oddly enough, I slept through the explosion (oddly because I was never a sound sleeper), but many on my street, and across the city, heard and saw the fireball.

3. When I was in grade 9, we went to a taping of a CBC show called the Great Debate. I HAD to sit in the first row, on the aisle seat. I had no idea, however, that the host interviewed the audience members about the topic before the taping.

The host asked me for my opinion on the subject (which I had no clue about), and I made a complete fool of myself. Not only did I think so, but a couple of my peers mentioned it to me as well. Then a few others who happened to see it on tv. :silly:

4. I lived in northern Alberta for a space of time; for a week, it didn't get above -50C/-58F. One day (yes, day) it got down to -53C. The ice crystals were so heavy in the air that it was like a dense fog; you couldn't see a few feet in front of you. It was terrifying to drive.

2. I'm a night person who's forced to function during the day. Doesn't always work real well.

3. I've lived in Germany twice...when I was 5-8 and then again when I was 13-16.

4. I can be loud and mouthy and pushy sometimes.

5. I work in the sports section at a mid-size newspaper.

:hi:

38. I've got a secret to tell, from my electrical well...
1. I don't do boycotts... usually. But there is something I'm boycotting: the RIAA and it's use of DRM technology on CDs and DVDs. While some have suggested (illegaly) that people buy and return DRM'ed CDs (right away) between 11am and 2pm on the Saturday before July 4th... Well, suggesting that would be illegal, wouldn't it?

2. I was an idiot seven years ago, and I still am today. Difference is, I'm no longer proud of it.

3. I'm a Windows geek. I built my own computer- several times- and I fix PCs... but I now use an intel iMac... and I'm usually booted into Mac OS X, though I'm considering a diffferent *nix OS (or OS/2)

4. I listen to music constantly. When people say they have a large music collection... I have 200Gb, last I checked (more like 210Gb now).

5. I listen to all of that music, too.

39. Hmmm...
•I've seen "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" like 60 times and each episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" at least... hell, I dunno. Maybe 30; maybe more.

•I've owned only two vehicles in my life (and I'm 50) — a '66 Chevy Bel Air and a '65 Chevy El Camino. I've had the El Camino for 25 years.

•When I was a kid, I was absolutely certain I'd be a pilot when I grew up. Then I found out that flying scares the shit out of me.

•I've been in about half a dozen earthquakes of magnitude 5 or greater, including the 7.0 Loma Prieta quake on Oct. 17, 1989 at 5:04 p.m. That was the only one that really scared me.

•I've been a Dodgers fan since 1965 but I've never been to Dodger Stadium.

3. I’ve lived in two different countries with vastly different and exotic lifestyles, religions and cultures during the two decades through which I have lived
4. I tend to be attracted to women at least 10-15 years older than myself

2. I am in 2 bands. I play guitar and sing for one, and I play drums for the other, which can be heard at www.myspace.com/thetouched. I think my fan base of both combined is an approximate 12.

3. My day job requires me to watch downloaded video files from news broadcasts around the country, including 2 hours of CNBC in the morning. If I could get paid exactly what I'm paid now just to eat my own feces, I'd have to take a long, hard look at that option.

I stopped writing for a long time and have in the past year found myself in the most productive point ever and have written many new poems and stories, and have 200 pages of a novel in progress.

3) My night light in my bedroom is a blue Lava Lamp with silver aparkly glitter in it.

4) I am sober 16 years.

5) My life is currently spinning out of control into a very sad, depressive, scary, unknown dark place yet I believe in the need to go deeply into the darkness and that it will somehow transform me in ways I cannot even imagine and will ultimately be looked at as a positive time in my life where I finally made the next evolutionary leap in creative, spiritual and mental growth.

83. Okay! Five things you knew about WIMR, and five things I betcha didn't!
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 01:17 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
We'll start out with five fairly well-known things around here:

1. I'm only 14

2. I'm female

3. I love writing, listening to music, and playing music

4. I love Steely Dan

5. I'm from Maine, ayuh!

And five lesser-known tidbits:

1. Confessions from the CD collection: I actually only have 2 'Dan albums: Can't Buy A Thrill (their 1st, which panders a bit to commerical rock radio, as the inclusion of David Palmer on lead vocals on a few tracks shows) and Aja (the critically-acclaimed seminal jazz-rock album, which was their 6th). But I still love 'em, more and more every day, and my goal is to get at least all 7 classic albums by next year. :D

Also, despite my known passion for jazz, I own only 2 classic jazz albums, one of which is the ubiquitous Kind of Blue. I'm working on this, however, at the same rate I'm gunning for Steely Dan!

2. I will have ridden horses for 10 years this fall, despite the fact I haven't really enjoyed riding in the past few years. When I was little, however, horses were all I thought about! :D Actually, at age 6 I threw a fit at school when a new student, who also loved horses, joined the class, and I was forced to share my title of "Princess of the Horses."

3. I fell in love with the piano at approximately age 3, was able to generally ignore it through my true childhood years, and fell back in love in 6th grade when, quite out of the blue, I received a keyboard for Christmas. Well, it all went downhill from there; I banged around, sightreading the right-hand parts of every single carol in the Christmas books I had, until the discovery that a teacher I was obsessed with was married to a jazz pianist (who is the one and only true OAJD, as some Loungers know him, in fact.) This produced such a wild fascination with him (which started out as fascination with him by means that he was married to her, but quickly spread into fascination with him for his own sake), that I was actually inspired to ask, firmly, for lessons. A spinet piano was delivered to my house in late September of 2005, and my formal lessons began on November 30th, 2005. So a total stranger (whom, to this day, I have not met, and not because I haven't been scheming on that, either! :D) spurred me on towards formal piano lessons. Weird to think of it, eh? :D

4. I have recieved detention twice in my life, both for disturbing class, and in both cases that class was math, albeit different math classes (once in 6th grade, and once in 7th)!

5. I am on very friendly turns with a total Bushbot, who remains one of the funniest people I know, despite the fact that he and his family are addicted to Kool-Aid, so to speak.

;)

118. Mine
1) I'm creative. If all else fails, I could write for a living. My mom wants me to help her write a book on her genealogy research. I also love to write poetry. And I like to make lists. For example, here are my top 30 celeb crushes at the moment: Alyssa Milano, Colleen Haskell, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Ali Larter, Reese Witherspoon, Alison Lohman, Salma Hayek, Thandie Newton, Eliza Dushku, Bonnie Somerville, Samaire Armstrong, Alicia Silverstone, Jennifer Connelly, Kaley Cuoco, Marisa Tomei, Kristen Bell, Maggie Grace, Zooey Deschanel, Amber Tamblyn (#1 crush as of now), Sharon Case (plays Sharon on Young And The Restless,) Lauren Woodland (ex-Brittany on Y&R), Leslie Mills, Amie Miriello, Courtney Jaye, Anna Nalick, Katharine McPhee, Michelle Branch, Andrea Corr, Stacie Rose. Others I like would include Jessica Harp, Angela Ammons, Z Berg, Adrienne Frantz, Rachael Bilson, Z Berg, Aishwarya Rai, Nina Gordon, Stephanie Gatschet, Claire Danes, Dominique Swain, Adrianne Leon, Poppy Montgomery, Lisa Walker of Wussy (haven't seen her much, but she's appealing,) Morgan Webb...

2) I'm a huge music fan. I'm very open-minded and don't subscribe to the music snob philosophy or the casual, mainstream only philosophy. Favorite band is the Beatles. My last purchase was Nina Gordon's Bleeding Heart Graffiti. I love Nina so much that I pre-ordered it already when it comes out in early August.

3) I love to read. Favorite authors include John Grisham, J.K. Rowling, Charles Dickens, Lisa Scottoline, and good political writers like Mark Crispin Miller and Al Franken.

4) I love Christmas. It brings back the magic of childhood to me. I even like the shopping and early Christmas music. I still like to enjoy the rest of the year, though. Religiously, I'm a baptized Catholic with independent spiritual views.

5) I will always own a dog. Great pets IMO.
