Good Tuesday Morning, Crew!

:hi::donut:
Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a good day yesterday to start out your work week. I certainly did! But then again, I'm on vacation! Sorry...I don't mean to rub it in. :D But, I AM enjoying my time off.

So now Monday is over and here we are at Tuesday. I have a few plans for today so it won't be as lazy a day as the past two have been! That's okay though. One can't spend ones entire vacation laying around doing nothing...can one?

So, let's get this day started, shall we? It's time to rise and shine! :bounce:

60. We had a little street flooding around here but that's it, the bayou
by my house was very high. My house is in a high area and raised off the ground, the old neighborhoods were built this way.

Many parts of Houston flooded, mostly in the south and southeast, they always flood.

78. The townhouses are changing the neighborhood, the yards are going under
cement. We still have a lot of lawns here yet but in five years we will flood just like the other areas.

The townhouses are already having flooding problems, I walked around yesterday and water was standing in areas that never had that problem before. Our neighborhood is high on both ends and low in the middle, water would drain downward into the railroad yard, the townhouses have changed that. So much for progress.

101. Everyone wants live inside the loop so overbuilding is going on.
Several townhouses are being built in the place of one house, this in a flood zone for the bayou.

The 610 loop has 3 major bayous to live with, the old folks knew how to live with the bayous.

The city and country just want the taxes that come with houses, to hell with the flooding.

I think I will see some for sale signs going soon, it will only get worse for the townhouse folks.

And I think you're right. For Sale signs are definately in the future there. Hopefully, the realtors will know what a flood plain is and can take action for it.

117. No, not yet.
We had a major flood 5 years ago, water almost came over my porch.

The county still allowed building in the flooded areas, they just make them raise the ground higher which flood out the lower surrounding houses. I am glad I had my house raised, it was worth the money.

139. I needed new pipes under the house, it was hard having 70 years old
pipes. People did live different lifes back then, no closets and one electric wall socket per room.

I got the house cheap but it did need working on, but it is still better built then anything built now.

9. I'm not absolutely sure what I'm going to do about summer holidays
There's a couple of things which are going on which sort of stop me from taking an actual real summer holiday - but I'm thinking of taking a couple of shorter breaks (I'm thinking that long week-ends in Paris and Milan would be a good idea).

The 'cello is one of the most gorgeous instruments ever - pure sex on a stick in my view. So richly resonant. :swoon:

21. That's the advantage of living here.
London-Paris is only about 3 hours by train - and that also avoids all of the faffing around with getting to airports, checking in 2 hours early &c.

I'll definitely get time off when I want some. I've also got to visit a few friends around the country at various times.

I haven't seen Milan before - being interested in gothic architecture I really do have to see the Cathedral there some time... and it's been several years since I was in Paris.

But the flight would be considerably less than 12 hours.

8. Morning Clint!
Sorry, no time to chat today, I have a lot of study to do for exams tomorrow.

Speaking of exams, I had one today... it was awful! In Australia, math exams are set very difficult... as in, some of the best mathematicians in Australia (there I go again, name dropping) for instance, didn't even manage to attpemt all the questions. It was that hard.

Got another one tomorrow, hopefully not so bad, but it IS another math one.

Hope you are enjoying your vacation.... have a great break man, you certainly deserved it from what I hear.

Anyway, that is all for today, hope to see you tomorrow, when I can chat a little longer!

Good night Clint! Have a nice day!

18. Good morning, Clintmax!
:donut: :hi:

I sort of took it easy yesterday ... did some things around the house, went grocery shopping, and then talked with the builder. Even went to bed early. I'm not sure what I'll do today. I feel like I could sleep for a month, but I keep waking up early. The cats didn't even bother me this morning.

Funny thing about cats. When you have a bed full of them, there's barely room for anyone else. Sophie was leaning up against my back and I must've shifted towards the middle a little bit. So she moved to be leaning up against me again. I guess I wasn't comfortable with her like that, or maybe I thought I was crowding her, so I kept moving in my sleep until eventually I was the wrong way on the bed -- with my feet up on harleydad's pillow. I woke up and took a look and there were three cats lined up from my pillow to the foot of the bed, all in a row where I should have been. (Sashka is dissing us these days b/c she misses her daddy.)

I'm glad you're having a good time off. You could actually spend the whole time doing nothing and it might be fun.

Yes, I could spend the whole time doing nothing, but I don't want to squander my whole vacation. I have a few errands to run today, so at least I'll have THAT.

Well, then, c'mon up and we'll wash our cars. I didn't do that yesterday. It started to sprinkle a little while I was stringing up the clothesline (I have a clothesline in the yard!) and I decided it wasn't a good day for it. The problem with me taking it easy is that I tend to loose my momentum when I'm so exhausted. If I keep going, my body cooperates for a while, but it crashes as soon as I stop. I know, it's a sign I should have stopped sooner. But sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Now that I've taken it easy, I might never get the dining room painted or the car washed.

They come to where ever I am and wash it for me, inside and out, for $21.00! They do a fantastic job too! So, I don't have to do it myself. It's an exhausting job that I hate. x(

Clothes dried on a clothesline are the BEST, you know it? My Grandma used to do that and they smelled SO good! LOVE THAT!

53. I have never done that.
Unless you can call harleydad a car washing service. It is an exhausting job, especially in FL when it's hot and humid. I might be able to manage it here in the morning while it's still cool. I don't know of any car washing services here and I can't take it to a car wash b/c that'll make the rag top leak. Maybe harleykid will bring hers over and we can make a day of it. She doesn't have a hose bib at her house and she LOVES to wash cars. :D

I agree! We weren't allowed to have a clothesline in Boca ... not like anything would have dried there anyway. I can't wait to change the bed sheets and hang them out. I even like jeans dried outside. They get all stiff.

Today I'm going to call Apple and order a carrying case/sleeve for my MacBook. I don't know why I didn't think of that when I ordered it. If I have time, I might try to import my iTunes library. One thing at a time so I don't screw something up. I'm seriously loving this. I was concerned because the firewall we use on our other computers, ZoneAlarm, isn't available for Mac. But then I did some poking around and discovered that Mac comes WITH a firewall. :wow: All I had to do was enable it! And the widgets are TOO cool. I have a calculator, calendar, weather, and clock that can just float up to the top and then disappear when I'm ready to do something else (now that sounds like a real technical description, doesn't it?).

Go to CompUSA ... they carry them there. I got a lot more stuff on mine than they sell theirs with, and for a better price. But you could go and see what they look like and how they feel. And check out the Photo Booth program. I actually have a picture of myself that I took with it. If I can figure out where they stored it, I'll send it to you for your morning crew thingy.

Oh, yeah, and if you ever decide to get one, let me know and I'll give you my salesperson's name and number. He was really good to me.

that is a funny story about your cats

When I was a kid we had a cat who used to sleep on our pillows. If he decided to sleep with you one night you could forget about having a pillow.
My second cat always slept near my knees or feet. Was a good footwarmer.

Satchmo sleeps on my pillow in the morning when he's ready to get up. And sometimes he reaches over and bites my head, just in case I don't notice he's there. He normally sleeps between my legs ... I think he was a dirty old man in a prior life. They do make good foot warmers!

79. Here is my little devil

She was a nutcase. When she had "her time" she would jump around and race through the apt like the devil was behind her. But she also was happy to cuddle. Esp. when you were talking on the phone. Like she was afraid she would miss something. But the moment she had enough of petting she would scratch and hiss. She died January last year. I miss her. Her name was Octavia.

And here is my/our first cat, Lillekort when he was a kitten

23. Good morning Clint!
Yesterday was ok. The weather was nice so I was able to sit on the front porch after getting my two clients ready for the day and avoid most of the holy roller's caterwauling. Then after going home and sleeping it was the regular routine. Laundry, dinner and a bit of relaxation before coming into work.

48. It certainly does
She has absolutely no respect for anybody else's concerns or feelings and just does whatever the heck she wants. I get the impression she just has the need to hear her own voice because she babbles in some way nearly every minute even when she stops the singing. When she finally sits down to read her Bible she blurts out "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" or "Ohhhh Ohhh Ohhhh" every minute or so as if she's surprised or shocked by what she's reading. If she's as religious as she claims to be she should have read that thing a dozen times and nothing in there should be a surprise.

I am doing fine. More or less. At the moment I have to admit I am tired of my friend. I am always glad when I don't see her or talk to her. I really like her but we see each other every day (we both work for the museum, but in different departments). Her attitude is mostly negative. Whatever she tells me, it has something negative in it. Unless she shops. I have the feeling shopping is a substitute for her.
I feel like I want to break out of my recent life.

what she needs is a bf. That is her main problem. That she fell in love badly a couple of years ago and the guy didn't come around. He liked her but had other big issues so she fell short.

But she is still negative on her work, on our co-workers, the men ... you name it. And I come to a point where I can't hear it anymore.

it is difficult. I am her only friend here in Frankfurt as she is mine. We both aren't persons that are very outgoing. And as said I really like her. It is just her negativism that bothers me. And at the moment a bit more. Maybe it has something to do with my own unhappiness about M. I am sad at the moment because since he started his new job he has even less time for me. Normally I try to avoid negative people as well. But since she is pretty much the only friend I have here in Frankfurt (and vice versa) we do a lot of stuff together. She can be fun and I do like her a lot but once in a while I get tired of her whining.

Seeing my sweetie? I think I have to wait a bit longer till I see him again. Since he started his new job he has even less time (2 hours each day to and away from his job) and on the weekends he just needs the time to relax. He will move as soon as his probation time is over after 3 months.
Of course I would see him if I would get invited to an interview in London.
M. just wrote me a text message. I posted it above.

118. It's great to be able to leave your watch at home!

Isn't it?

I'm sure you'll find plenty of things to do with your time this week. Savor every moment of it!

129. Oh, I surely will!
It's strange...I can't walk out the house without my watch. I feel naked without it on my arm...but when I'm at home, I can't stand it there. Strange, huh?

145. I don't know how comfortable I would feel wearing a watch again.

I own at least 1/2 a dozen of 'em but I quit needing one a little over 11 years ago.

104. Morning Clint!
I was lazy yesterday morning and decided to stay in bed just a little longer. It did feel good, but the lazy feeling continued throughout the day, and I'm feeling guilty for not putting in a full days work. Oh well, today it'll be catch up time.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying your time off. Maybe when you're out-and-about you could take some more pics for us? Just a suggestion

120. I kinda feel bad
for you. You're on vacation and if you sleep in, we'll all be wondering where you are, getting all worried. It's truly good that we care, but it puts you in an awkward position. Ah ha ha ha . . . you'll just have to pre-plan your sleeping in days and let us know in advance.

136. If you do decide
to sleep in, rest assured that Random Australian would step up to the plate. I think he rather enjoyed it that other week.

It's time to fill up my travel mug and head out to work. Wishing you a great day, relaxing day. You can just leisurely do your chores, no stress, no time table. That's the best, because then they can be enjoyed.

Just woke up. Tired. :)

I'm on vacation too. It's too long though. I get antsy. :)

Hope you have a good day with your plans and all, but, imho, lazy days are the best!
