Know anything about VW Jettas?
My MIL is selling us her's for a buck. It's only problem? Doesn't start in the rain. Now, I haven't even taken the car out yet, and according to her, this is it's only problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's a (I think) 1992/93 w/ over 100k on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. Sounds electrical
Distributor cap? Coil? Wires?

Water is getting into something it shouldn't.

5. Correct.
I had a '80 Volvo once with the same problem. Turns out a cracked distributor cap was the culprit.

4. common problem with some vw's...
i don't even remember if they have distributors with removable caps- but if they do, and it's easily accessible- keep a towel in the car. when things get moist, and it won't start, pop the top on the distributor, and towel the moisture out of it.
