Why do audiences at talk shows cheer wildly after 15-second movie clips?
When a movie actor appears on a talk show to promote his/her latest movie, they always show a 15 to 30-second clip from the film, and it's usually no more than a line or two from the actor, yet when the clip suddenly ends, the audience cheers and applauds wildly, as if they have just seen an entire performance of "Hamlet" ot "Porgy and Bess." What is this all about? I sit there and see the same 15-second clip and I don't see or hear anything that makes me jump up and cheer.

They "prime" the audience for cheering by having an opening act before filming starts.

Hamlet would be much better if it didn't have so many quotes in it.
