Vasectomies - how do you feel afterwards long term?
Looking into getting one soon, frankly because I'm damned sick of everyone asking me when I'm having another kid when I have absolutely NO desire to have one and I hate condoms. The stepson I have is good enough. Why can't people just leave it at that? No, your marriage apparently isn't worth a hill of beans if you aren't having a litter of children.

So that's the deal; I need to know about long-term effects, if there are any. I can't take it from some medical website, it's better if I know from people who have had it done. How long before you returned from work? When does it get to be used again? Have you experienced any pain at all, anytime? Do you have to get checked afterwards to see if the sperm are dead and how often? Questions like that.

13. Wholly my decision.
. . . or incision.

I'm definitely not going to be talked out of it. I've been thinking about this since the SO went off the pill.

19. You'll not regret it then. Takes all of pressure away about
unwanted pregnancy. None about STD's though.

23. there's no noticeable physical difference
Of course not worrying about producing younguns and not having the hassle of birth control does make things a bit more pleasant

11. My husband had one
over 20 years ago. After the healing, he has been fine. No problems, no discomfort. I, of course, was very happy he had it done. No more birth control pills or the bouts of depression they caused me. He's always said he was glad he had it done. When anyone we knew was thinking of doing it, he assured them they would never regret it. Just make sure you really do not want to have anymore children.

18. Oh, I'm quite positive I don't want any more.
There's a ton of reasons, not ONE of which anyone around me understands at all.

20. I once read a survey of older couples who had and did not have children.
It came down to this: The ones who had children led more meaningful lives. The ones who did not have children led happier lives.

Not everyone is cut out to be or are meant to be parents. Not everyone feels the need to procreate. We are all different individuals. That's what makes the world an interesting place.

14. Ask Earl.
Wasn't he the admin here that just got married?

Man, he hasn't made many posts here lately, either, so I guess we all know what he's been doing lately.

LoL

22. i had mine several years ago, and everything is just fine.
i don't remamber the recovery time- but mine was longer(the recovery  ) because i also had a cystoscopy, and they found cancer in my bladder which they removed.

your vasectomey isn't "official" until your urologist clears your sperm count- it can take up to 3 months, iirc.

absolutely no long-term or recurring pain from the procedure.
