Does your county have a good county fair?
Last year me and some buddies went to the county fair. We went to see the demolition derby. It was cool and some cute girl explained the scoring system of the game. She said she wanted to become a contestant eventually. It was a lot of fun and one of my buddies who was from Germany had never seen this kind of thing in his life. Afterwards we drank a lot of malt liquor. The next day we had planned to go to the monster truck presentation, but it was hot and only 50% of us felt good enough to go. I heard it was even better than the demolition derby.

Radical Activist tells me that at his county fair, some drunk woman flashed a Chucky Cheese Animatronic Band, that must have been something.

Anyone else have reports on the county fair?
Any suggestions for ones that would be worth travelling to?

1. Ours is pretty decent, and they throw in a rodeo
...A bunch of out-of-towners come in and ride and rope various barnyard animals. Then the fun starts when the locals get into things.

The highlight is the relay race... it's a horseback race held late in the day, when the contestants are good and drunk. You (and I really mean you, not me pal...) hop on a horse and do a lap on the track. When you come back around, you take the saddle off Horse A and put it on Horse B, which a bunch of your drunk buddies are trying to convince to hold still.

Once the saddle is more or less (less is more entertaining) attached, off you go for another lap. Repeat for four laps, four horses. About half the saddles come off at some point. I'm still amazed we haven't killed anybody.

2. Not anymore.
What used to be aisles and aisles of local folks selling their handmade arts and crafts has devolved into people selling hot tubs and kitchen gadgets straight out of the late night TV commercials.

7. There's a truck pull on one day.
The bands are the usual semi-washed up country singer vehicle that does the county fair circuit.

Diamond Rio was the last group whose name I can recall.

4. We don't have a county fair here
But we do have this little annual event similar to one. You might have heard of it. The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede...
