Yesterday, my son and I saw something you don't see every day
We were driving to his ballgame, and along side us at a signal light a Bentley pulled up. We see a lot of Hummers, Escalades, Excursions and the like, it was weird seeing a Bentley. In fact, I believe it is the first time I have ever seen a Bentley in Minnesota.

It had Montana plates... :wtf:

Kind of made me want to ask the owner how it feels to drive a car, whose monetary value is more then the GNP of many third world countries.

1. Conspicuous consumption and ostentatious displays of wealth nauseate me
The type of people who do that sort of thing don't deserve what they have.

3. I hear you!
I think of what good in the world the excess money spent on the Bentley could do.

4. I would say new

although I really have no idea, since I do not know what the latest models look like.

On edit - just looked at the Bentley website. It was probably last years Continental GT.

14. I was thinking if it was an old one
hell, cruise that baby around. It's a classic.

But new, I'm-so-rich cars (or I'm-so-deeply-in-debt) are just gauche.

I know a guy who has a '65 Rolls Silver Ghost with right-hand drive. Classy.

And he's a biker. And a pharmacist.

5. They rank with Hummers in gas mileage
I don't understand why anyone would want one.

6. Holy shit, I did not know that
But then, the market share for that kind of vehicle would not care a whit about fuel conservation.

8. I was surprised by that too
I didn't believe the person who told me they sucked gas like a Hummer. I had to look it up for myself.

I know the market share doesn't care. I'm just surprised Bentleys don't attract the attention here that Hummers do when talking about gas guzzlers. Seem like the Bentleys have slipped under the radar in that regard.

10. Image is everything
They don't LOOK like a car that uses two gallons per mile.

19. WOW
I didn't know the Hummer Mini gets 19 MPG. The Bentley I looked at gets 10 MPG.

9. I do not think so.
But he was a white guy about that same age. To be honest, I did not get that close a look at him.

One wonders what Ted Turner would have been doing in Bloomington MN yesterday though.

13. If Ted wants bison, there will be bison.

Or he's looking for a nice breakfast spot.

:what do I know:

15. LOL
I think the fairly wealthy west Bloomington residents would find problems with Ted Turner finding Bison here!

That being said, it would not surprise me in the least.

17. I decided to put up a photo of a new Bentley, because I've never seen one.
At least, not that I know of. It's nice, but I wouldn't want the upkeep, insurance, worry, mileage, etc.

18. I think that even if I were a Brazillionaire
I would probably drive something more sensible.
