Man Tries To Pay For Drinks At Bar With Checks Belonging To Bartender

special thanks to cub reporter SOteric for the 'scoop' :D

STATESBORO, Ga., -- A 21-year-old Georgia man was arrested after trying to buy drinks with a checkbook he found at a bar. Unfortunately for Jody Brian Minor of McRae, the checkbook's owner was the bartender serving him.

Minor was arrested on theft and forgery charges early Saturday morning, Statesboro Police Detective Terry Briley said.

He was "extraordinarily intoxicated," Briley said. Minor is out on bond, and his case will go before a grand jury in August, Briley said.

Minor was at Dingus Magee's bar when he found a checkbook and began paying his tab with it, Briley said. One of the bar's employees realized the checks belonged to a fellow bartender Hubble Beasley, who called police.

Briley said Minor's father has paid the delinquent $129 bar tab.

1. D'oh!!! I got my name in the matcom news!!!
And does it strike anyone else as particularly appropriate that the name of the bar was 'Dingus?'

3. Apparently he was both dumb and drunk.
I can't imagine $129 worth of booze wouldn't get you lipped, - even at a chichi downtown bar.

4. Stateboro, GA is the home of Georgia Southern University.
Althought here are many fine students there, there are also your typical Georgia frat boy types who drink too much and make fools out of themselves. What an idiot. That will be a black spot on his record. Forgery is serious crime.

One has to be 21 to drink yet, somehow, all of the college students seem to be able to go out to bars. Either they have fake IDs (most likely) or they are staying in college for more than four years (also likely since The University System of Georgia switched to semesters from quarters.)

5. this reminds me of a story
that happened about a month, or two back. A cashier at walmart, had her car broken into(this is in bentonville), and her wallet/cds and a few other things got stolen. In her wallet was some loose change and her credit card. The very next day, while she is at work, she has a customer, come through her line, and after she rings up the sale, the customer tried paying for it, with the cashier's stolen, credit card...:) Funny shit huh? Cashier, played it cool, called her manager over, and called the cops...:)
