Did Herman Munster where green make-up on set?
OK, so we all know Herman Munster was supposed to be green. Or was it the wife? Whatever, point remains the same. The show actually appeared in black and white. So, did they bother making the actors where green make-up on set?

This was really bothering me while I was showeing this morning.

1. Yes, they all wore full makeup
I used to know a guy who had lunch with the cast every day.

2. Check out Pleasantville
They had to do a lot with matching black and white tones with black and white make-up as they switched back and forth. I think I saw a short on it, probably on a DVD extra. When the Mom was in color, she had to put on color make-up that matched her B&W film skin tone, all that sort of thing.

And I heard that there was no doubt in people's minds that Bette Davis's red dress in the B&W movie Jezebel was of the reddest red it could be.

3. I thought the "red" dress in Jezebel was actually brown
so it would photograph properly in black and white.

4. It was.
Interestingly, in this modern age, High-Def video is proving to be problematic for costumers, as some shades of blue photograph in green or not at all. It'll be interestiting to see how this problem is addressed.

6. And Janet Leigh's blood in Psycho
was chocolate syrup, if I recall correctly.

5. In the Superman cliffhanger serials of the forties, and the TV series
of the fifties, Superman's costume was actually brown and gray so it would photograph correctly. The series later went to color, and of course had a blue and red costume for George Reeves. But I've seen some black-and-white stills of the color costume, and it looked all wrong. So colormatching even in black and white is pretty important.

funny you should mention the old Superman episodes - I saw them on DVD yesterday.

Guess they are being released in conjunction with the new movie coming out.

8. Hi, babe!
:hi::hug::loveya:

I used to love the old TV series. My favorite episode was when Superman saves the Earth from an approaching meteor, but it turns out to be loaded with Kryptonite, and Supie loses his memory. That was a good one. It had Phyllis Coats as Lois lane, and Noel Neill was my favorite Lois, but still...a good episode.
