Help me name a new rescue pup!
I am about to commit to driving 15 hours to rescue this guy from Oklahoma, and bring him home to Colorado. :)
He was abandoned in a housing development, and I intend to give this kid a full, wonderful life among huskies. With snow and stuff.

Help me name him! The family fostering him has been calling him Jack for the 10 days they've had him, but I've known too many huskies named Jack. Plus one who left us too young not too long ago.

Any suggestions? :D

Looks like the name would fit him well :)

i just adopted a rescue dog from Oklahoma! Brought her back to CA. A friend had saved her and kept her for the last year until I could take her.

Her name is Seneca, she's 10 years old, is a Border Collie mix, had a couple of really abusive owners, one of whom meanly docked her tail in the middle of a joint and kicked her a lot. She's a gentle, loving people/kid oriented dog. She's going to have a good life the rest of her life. She's beautiful, seems to understand language really well, obeys commands and is not a destructive dog considering all she's been through. She has a small abandonment issue, but can stay home inside alone for hours. She loves ot be brushed and right now is lying at my feet :-)

At the vet in OKC

On the road relaxing in the motel on the way to CA

At Home as of Sunday afternoon!

There is a whole group around here that has husky's and they are all named after Alaskan cities. My brothers is Fairbanks, we also have a Juneau, Homer, and Nome. There is something about a Husky that they should be named that way.

You might want to try some Canadian place names too, like Yukon, Hudson , Toronto, Winnie (Winnipeg).

Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 09:25 PM by NNadir
They eyes betray that brooding, and yet somehow happy, Kraunschfeldesberger look that many still associate with Ludmilla, when she was young, before her bitter marriage to the Baron von Reisterdorfmeister and her exile to the teams that worked the frozen Elbe.

Those were sad times, and best not spoken of.

Did you personally know old Torsten Hans Kraunschefeldesberger? He was a top dog, indeed.

OK. I'm out of ideas.

I usually name my animals after blues or jazz musicians, with the exception of our rescued schnauzer who was pre-named "Bella". (Although, I do pronounce it BAY-la, as in Bela Bartok)

54. Copper or Cu
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper

Copper conducts electricity well. That dog will add a jolt to the household, for sure!

"Copper occupies the same family of the periodic table as silver and gold,"

Well, now, look at that lovely color! And that dog will become a precious member of the team. He joins the other valuable dogs and the group gets stronger... just like copper is used to make alloys...

His colors kind of remind me of a truffle, and because of the name, people will associate your dog with deliciousness! :)

Of course, I've never been good with pet names. That's why my dogs are named Goldie and Spud.

At any rate, good on you for taking in a rescue puppy. I adopted my older labrador retriever from the pound and she's been the best, sweetest companion we've ever had.
