I am officially 2 mos. CAFFEINE FREE today and feeling great!!
Trust me, this is huge for me cuz I was a serious addict for over 20+ yrs.

I went cold turkey during a cleanse detox thing I did back in April and the 11 hr. detox headache from HELL on Day 1 was unforgettable. Ugh. However, that was the only bad day and ever since, I've been fine.

My energy is much less jangly and I wake up energized and refreshed. Caffeine really screws with your adrenal system and liver.

My hubby has joined me and we've packed away the coffee maker. I'm not saying I'll NEVER have coffee again, but hey, these days I'm feelin' pretty damn good, so why go back??

Just thought I'd share cuz, I am proud of myself, dammit. :D

:hi: Any other caffeine free loungers care to testify?? :hi:

1. By that standard, I'm a coffee Addict/Pusher with intent to distribute
Having confessed that...I don't do liquor, cigs, sugar, or starch of any kind.

26. I'm designing a bar that will display them all

I'm calling it a bar, but it's more like an excuse to have a microwave and refrigerator in the TV room.

Darn I'm smart!

3. How dare you?

;) I'm down to one cup in the morning and one after dinner. A few years ago, I lived on coffee. Now I drink a lot of green tea or mate during the day.

4. I gave up caffeine about a week and a half ago.
No headache from withdrawal this time. I drank a lot of water, though.

I do feel better already. I sleep much better, and don't wake up umpteen times a night.

6. Congratulations!

You should be proud of yourself!

I have been a caffiend on and off for years. Currently on, but trying to wean. I too feel much better when I'm off, and I know how hard it can be to quit. The withdrawal headaches are a bitch, and aspirin doesn't help at all. But you have lent inspiration today, so thank you!

caffiend (k'fnd)
1. (n.) One who is demonically obsessed with drinking caffeine. Often outweighs caffeinatics in quantities of caffeine in the blood stream and in level of addiction.

P.S. Which detox program did you use, and how did you like it? I did a three month one a few years ago, it was difficult but worth it. Probably due again...

19. Thanks, DA!! I appreciate your kind words.
"Caffiend"...great word! I'll have to remember that one. I hadn't heard it before, so thanks. :) Very funny.

I did something called The Master Cleanse. It was a 10 day cleansing, detox juice fast, using a lemonade concoction of water, fresh squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. It's been around for a long time. I'd never done anything like that before, but felt the need to detox and clean out my system. Kind of an internal Spring Cleaning sort of thing....It was a great experience, all in all. Very validating of my will-power and discipline, plus my body felt great afterwards. I loved it so much, I'm planning to do it again in the fall. Great stuff!!

11. I love caffeine
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 11:06 AM by BamaLefty
Although it makes me so sick every morning that I have to have a scrambled egg every morning at 10. :(

I dunno what I'd do without my Diet Coke! And yes, I know they make Caffeine-free but they go flat too damn quick!

18. Damn espresso! Fell off the wagon for it!
Quit coffee, and loved being caffeine-free after a giant convenience store-sized mug every morning, and 2-3 cups during the day.

Was on the wagon for about 2 years! We threw out our coffee maker, and started enjoying tea.

But then I went to Italy for a week for work, and the hotel had killer espresso but no "American" coffee. It tasted heavenly, and helped me overcome the jetlag. So now, I have an espresso every morning, and a STRONG cup of coffee on weekends from a new coffee press.

Congrats! You definitely sleep better caffeine-free. The Mormons have the right idea on that one....

23. Yeah, those Europeans really know how to enjoy their coffee/espresso
I can completely understand.

The truth is, coffee serves its purpose and I will definitely have it again at some point. I'm not gonna be all fanatically against it or anything.

I'm simply enjoying this very new, caffeine free time of my life right now. :D It's kinda cool!

Good to see ya, Patiod! :hi:

24. It was one of the things I gave up on the way to finding out I'm lactose-
intolerant, and I just never started again. Though I never cared for coffee, as a Southerner I was an inveterate iced tea drinker and occasional Pepsi imbiber. Can't say it's helped me sleep at night a lot better, but the nightmares are gone or anyway much less frequent. It's been a year and a half now.

Actually, I think that's great. About 2 years ago, I was caffeine-free too. I took a step down the slippery slope and now I'm a full-fledged latte addict.
