Gardeners- question re: chives.
My chive patch is heinously overgrown and way too tall. Can I just cut it back, or will that harm future growth? Tia.

1. You need to trim that chive patch
I prefer kind of a small strip, with small grown, and everything else pruned.

But you could also go for a full pruning as well

2. You are not helpful.
Dare I even mention that they drooped over, and I ran over the ends with the lawnmower, yesterday?:P

3. Well see what a good pruning would have done!
And remember, always use long strokes when pruning

7. Oh melons need to be massaged on a regular basis
No matter how small or large...regular massaging makes them stay fresh.

8. And you can tell if they're ripe...how?
I was always taught to knock on them and note their musky scent.

13. A little too intrusive for my likes
I think nothing is a better measure than just burying your face in one and finding out that way

4. I wouldn't bother....
My patch is monstrous, and no matter what I've done in the past, it always comes right back, huge, falling over, etc...Every summer.

11. Oh I feel ya....
It's always such a frustration, they look so pretty when they flower and get all tall, but then, whooomp! Down they go! :o

Cut Them back, it shouldn't harm them, I've head the same pastch for 6 years now, and every spring, back they come!

I'm ok, life's never easy, but overall, I'm doing pretty good. How are you sweet lady? :pals:

Having a mini personal crisis-of-purpose, but I'll figure it out. This late-twenties stuff is just...wierdness. Are you keeping busy?

Ah, the late twenties...I'm right there with you....

I'm doing my best, although what's keeping me busy isn't really fun or happy stuff...just stress and conflict, sigh. But, I'm trying my darndest to stay afloat. :)

today, i may go sit in the cemetery and read...dead people keep their issues to themselves, hehe...usually. :P

14. Maybe you need to stick to cactus.
There needn't be suffering of countless herbs, for your neglect.
