Need help from DU Wiccans - need a "Celtic Reading"
We are going to our friend's annual Solstice Party on Saturday night, and SO has been asked to bring a "Celtic reading". For years, it's been the standard "Hail East, South, West, North" (or whatever) with drums etc, but this year she said she "wanted to change things up".

We are at a loss - if she wanted a Quaker reading, I'd be able to help out (actually, I might volunteer one, as I'm sure that pleas for peace would be most welcome) but Celtic-wise I dont know where to go.

So any help here on a Soltice-friendly Celtic reading would be appreciated.

/True story: one year that this party everyone was in different costumes, and I was talking to this one guy who told me that, based on something I had said, I was "strange". I said "I can't believe that someone wearing battery-powered light-up goat horns just referred to me as 'strange'." He had to laugh at that...

when I get home I'll see what I can find. Back in college my friend gave me "The Book of Celtic Wisdom". There may be something useful in there.

edit spelling

5. Not sure I found what you need.
The book deals mainly with Shamanism and the roots of it (stories, legends). I didn't find any blessings. It does have some "spells" that can be used in conjuction with salves, bones, etc for healing. If you like, I can post some of those after lunch time.

6. Frankly, we're stumped
I found NOTHING as far as "Celtic readngs", so I went with some Yeats, some Milton, somebody's poem about Solstice from the web and a few good quotes on Peace - our hostess can choose something from that (or not).

We do have a REALLY cool sun god mask from Venice made by same artist who supplied all the masks for "Eyes Wide Shut", and I'm trying to dig up some battery-operated light-up flower circlets (actually, I used to have about 40 of them from a production of "Iolanthe")

This is always an interesting party - a combination of the hostess's friends from the theater (us), the gay & lesbian community, cat rescue, Wicca, and her local natural foods co-op (not surprisingly, there's a lot of overlap between groups!). And it's a refreshing change from my usual gang of extremely straight, high-powered and way-too-serious girlfriends.

9. Thanks! Found quite a few things at that first reference
The second has all the invocations that our hostess usually recites, and I know she specifically wants something different.

Those poems from "ancient Erse" fit the bill, as did some of the contemporary Irish stuff as well.

Thanks, whoa_Nelly

If this is outside of his religion and is nonstandard beyond that, it is too much to expect for him to pull an incantation out of thin air. It would be like asking me to write an original Tibetan Buddist prayer.
