I just wrote the check for my final car payment.
I've been on a sacrificial budget for two and a half years to get this loan (ha, I just mistyped that as "load," but that works, too) paid off early, and it's finally over with! Now I can make bigger payments on my new computer and potentially be out of consumer debt by New Year's.
Hooray for MEEEEEEEEE! :bounce:

OK, off to the mailbox I go...

1. That's a great feeling, ain't it?
Mine'll be paid off in a few more months. After that, it's gonna be hookers and smack by the truckload for me!

22. Hmm...
In that case, I'll only be making minimum payments from now on. :P

I was beaten to the post. Which isn't nearly as exciting as it sounds.

25. It sure is.
This is the first car I've ever financed - I always used to just get beater Hondas for about $2000 and pay for them outright and drive 'em into the ground. I can't say I really liked that large a consumer debt, so it feels great to be done with it.

Thanks! :hi:

4. Awesome!
We've been without the burden of a car payment for a couple of years, and I dread taking one on. We'll probably have to in the next year or so, but it's been dandy not having one for this long. Enjoy your new-found liberation!

I think new eyeglasses and shoes are in order for the freed-up income... oh, and who am I kidding? Partying like a rockstar will surely play a role.

6. I'll be doing that in a couple of months.
Than I can afford to buy a new computer. This old E-Machine just doesn't cut it any more. Good for surfing the Web, but nothing else.

29. I probably should have waited, myself.
Two biggish payments at once kind of sucked. But you're right, those older e-Machines hardly cut it these days. Happy computer shopping.

last year, my wife and I paid off her dodge intrepid, with our tax refund, and three days later, she got into an accident, hit and run, cops never found the guy that hit her....and needless to say, we went right back into debt. We got screwed by a ford windstar(i hate windstars), and finally ended back up with an 04 dodge intrepid...

on edit:spelling

FWIW, I hate Fords too.

16. Good for you, and a piece of advice
Once you get the computer out of debt, start putting aside ten percent of your check each and every month. That way, when the car you've just paid off dies, you can pay for the next one straight up, rather than be caught in the debt trap again.

18. DO NOT SAY A WORD OF THIS NEAR YOUR CAR
We once bragged about paying off the van...in the van... Next day....transmission went out :(

I was remembering "Christine" when that happened, so we never mentioned anything to do with money in the van :)
